Doesn't she work for USBC? She is currently in 4th place for doubles. I thought those guys weren't eligible for the Open this year.

Anyone at usbc is allowed to bowl but they can't win any money as far as I know

But what about her doubles partner and her team(currently in 5th place)?

They get paid? Sounds like one hell of a loop hole to me.

CDB used to be the head of coaching for USBC.  She gave up that position.  She now works for Storm/Roto and other companies.

She is still listed as a coach at the training center. If they pay her for that, she is an employee. And Mike Shady is listed as well.

I don't think that holds up. I think they are referring to full-time employees and the people who work the tournament. I'm pretty sure the Team USA coaches, other than Rod Ross, are considered contract employees; they're paid for the times when they hold team training and tournaments, but they don't draw paychecks all year round. As such, I'm pretty sure CDB, Shady, Bryan O'Keefe, etc. are eligible to bowl AND cash. I'm not 100% on that, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I agree that is how USBC will spin this, but they make the rules I guess. It just looks bad all around and will piss a lot of bowlers off even more.

Not like I was going to win an Eagle anyway.  ;D

From Richgels' 11th Frame-

Bowlers in the Team USA program have gained the assistance of the seven of the most respected coaches in the world, the United States Bowling Congress announced Thursday.

The new assistants to Team USA head coach Rod Ross and Junior Team USA head coach Bryan O’Keefe are Mark Baker, Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Andy Diercks, Kelly Kulick, Mike Shady, Bill Spigner and Del Warren.

USBC said the seven will work with Team USA players at training camps and in international competitions, as needed.

The seven and independent contractors for Team USA and not employees of USBC, which is important to our 11thFrame.com teams because Shady is part of our group and were this an employee position he would be ineligible to cash in the USBC Open Championships.

O’Keefe also is an independent contractor, while Ross is a full-time employee.

USBC is clueless if they think this isn't going to be an issue for a lot of bowlers at the Open.

It was never an issue before, then they make a rule so the actual employees can't cash and now it's an issue that the coaches are independent contractors.

Spigner hasn't shot 1800 since 2013, Baker and Diercks haven't bowled since 2014, and Del Warren hasn't bowled since 2012.

Worry about something that is worth worrying about.

Without having to state the obvious, a 52 year old bowler with a 250 rev rate and moderate to slow speed has got other bowlers shook.

I love it.

Wait... A "52 year old bowler with a 250 rev rate and moderate to slow speed has got other bowlers shook"??? How could that be? I haven't even bowled Nats yet this year, how did they find out???   8)

If I only had a tenth of her talent, it would be a blessing... She's good... really good.
