Deals and drillers at USBC
« on: June 28, 2013, 10:33:18 AM »
Two questions for those who either are at the term now or have recently been:

1. Does anyone know if there are good deals to be had on undrilled balls and bags either starting now or next week? I am going up for the last weekend of the tournament and am anticipating there might be deals to be had.

2. I decided at the last minute to throw in a NIB Raptor that my driller could not get to and will be looking for a good driller at the tournament, something I normally avoid like the plague. Can anyone recommend a good driller at the booths or identify who might be knowledgeable in Motiv?

Thanks in advance

Frankie May would be a good choice. I believe the Visionary and Motiv stuff is in the same booth. Go all the way left to the end of the corridor and you will be right their.

Chris Castro who is working the Hammer booth is from the Dallas area and has a good reputation in the area from those whose opinion I trust.

Most of the guys are good ball drillers as far as hitting spans and pitches.  I lay my own stuff out so that is all I am looking for.  Not sure who is the best if you are looking for advice on layouts and fitting.  Frankie May would certainly seem like a good bet though.

As for deals, I have never seen any great deals unless I happened to be looking for a discontinued ball that someone happened to have.

I've had 3 guys drill for me at Nats.  Kyle @ebonite booth, Chris @hammer booth and Frankie May @visionary booth.   Those three guys are top notch based on personal expierence

I had Corey at the Storm booth drill two balls for me.  One for Team and one for doubles and singles. He is a Left hander as I am. He has drilled for the tour guys.  I was interested in a Reign or Power and a Hy-Road.  They were out of the Hy-Road so he suggested the Roto-Grip Wrecker.  I let him use the layout that he thought would work best for me and he was Spot On with both balls.  I shot a respectable 1765.  The nine spares I missed were my fault.  I know what I have to work on now.

He also drilled a ball for one of my team mates that he brought to the Open and he was very pleased with the drilling.
