Staying in Reno a Week. Info Please

I will be staying in Reno over a week. I think we are staying at the Circus. I have never been there before so I am looking for places to golf, eat, and enjoy. Any information at all would be appreciated! Thanks

Plenty of places to seat right there at the Circus Circus, Eldorado, Silver Legacy complex.  Flavors is one of the best buffets around and with the coupon in the flyer you get at check for the tournament in its under $5.  Harrahs also has an awesome buffet.  Golf is good, lots of good courses with awesome rental club sets, And if you never been there get down to Lake Tahoe.

I just got back from Reno the other day. We didn't do any buffets, so I can't offer anything there other than to say that I've heard that most are quite good. I can tell you that Brew Brothers (inside Silver Legacy) has good food at reasonable prices. Tuesdays are 2-for-1 pizzas! Tivoli Gardens (inside El Dorado) is also quite good, especially for breakfast. If you go there, be sure to try the eggs benedict with spinach and tomato. It was awesome!

Those were the main haunts our group frequented. A buddy and I also grabbed lunch at the China Diner, a little place across the street from the El Dorado parking garage. The food was great, the portion was ample, and the staff was friendly. I'm surprised we only ate there once!

thanks guys for the help. I was hoping that the food was good and reasonable. Any information is appreciated. Casinos have decent bars?

There are a couple fun ones.  Brew Brothers has live music most nites.  Rum Bullions (inside SL) can be fun depending on the nite, Friday's they have dueling pianos.  It really seems to depend on the nite, sometimes the whole casino is jumping, others it's like a ghost town

For great and I mean great late nite eats check out the nugget. Its a dive casino/bar/diner and the burgers and dogs are great and very cheap.

While you're in town, and if you have a car - be sure to check out Lake Tahoe and Truckee (home of the Donner Party) - great area, incredibly beautiful, and a don't miss!
Also - on the west side of Reno (W. McCarran exit off I-80) http://www.squeezein.com/ - best omelettes around. The original is in Old Town Truckee - a must see IF you're there during the week. Weekends can have a wait of around 1 hour during ski season.
El Dorado Buffet is good downtown. Nugget in Sparks, and the Atlantis, are great as well.

If it's still there the steakhouse at Circus is AWSOME. The buffet for breakfast at El Dorado is well worth it. Every year I went there that's where we always ate breakfast.

I always enjoyed the Peppermill buffet(on down Virginia Avs) and the big hotel near the airport was always good. It use to be the Hilton but is called something else now. If you get the chance and have the time drive up to Lake Tahoe(clear as glass and 1200' deep in the middle) Last time I was there took a little paddleboat ride,excursion on the lake-its bigger than it looks but quite beautiful. With just a short drive you can go to Carson City of the "Bonanza" fame and 1 of the 1st gambling towns. Just FYI

Food: Buffet at Harrah's is pretty good (Carving's), along with the various types of food, some stations have a private chef/cook to make specialized orders (including how you want your steak).

Peppermill buffet is also good but about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown area.
Eldorado's seafood buffet is pretty good but was only on fridays (not sure now).

Golf: A must hit imho is LakeRidge. 15th hole signature is an island green, beautiful view from the box. Box is 70-80+ feet (can't remember) looking down on the green.  Here's a link... http://www.lakeridgegolf.com/

Bars: Brew Brothers (2nd fl from Eldo to Silver Legacy).  Nice and quiet on weekdays but a madhouse on Fri and Sat nites (college kids).  

One small suggestion, after midnite or later hrs, stay around downtown or in the casino.  Just a couple of blocks away from downtown can get pretty seedy.  Hope this helps some...

Golf in reno/Tahoe area, plays much shorter due to elevation.

best courses are in the Truckee Area, not even close.  One of my favorites is White Hawk ($95-125).  Plumas Pines ($80-95)is a nice Mt Course too.  Coyote Moon, Old Greenwood and Grey's Crossing are way too expensive($over $150 each), but if you got the dough, play'em.  

D'Andrea ($70 w/cart)is prob one of the better tracks, not a muni course like the others.
Arrow Creek Legends is nice ($55-70).
Red Hawk is not bad ($50-65).

South of Reno, Carson Valley area:
Silver Oak is OK ($35-60).
Dayton Valley is fun, driveable par 5's.

I don't like lakeridge ($55-90), 1 signature hole does not make a great course.  Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

Second the Nugget.  You can get a 1/3lb burger and 1/2lb fries for about 5 or 6 bucks.  The Nugget is about 3 blocks north of Silve Legacy

I always prefer the buffet at the El Dorado compared to the one at Silver Legacy.  But if you have a car and can get around town, Rapscallions is a great place to eat.  There is also the Bonanza Casino on Virginia St, on the other side of HWY 80.   Their steak house serves PRIME grade meat and its worth it to visit this little side casino for the food.  Service is extraordinary.  Fancy, well dressed waiters, polite and your food is brought on rolling carts.  Though the service is formal the dress code is not. http://www.bonanzacasino.com/cactuscreek.shtml
