How long does doubles and singles take

My squad for doubles and singles starts at 9:30 am . How long is it taking people to bowl?  Are they starting on time?  What time do you get done and out of there?

No, it's not the alcohol but the prima donnas who need three lane courtesy that put the squads behind. We bowled this past weekend and finished in plenty of time bowling next to guys in the classified division. No one jumped up on anybody else and everyone was ready to bowl.

Nutsforbowling, if that's the case, why don't they schedule a little more time for each squad? Also do you mean to say that with beer drinking allowed there aren't more bowlers needing to take pee breaks?

I did see guys drinking during team event, and with the pace that would allow someone enough time between frames to go to the bathroom. We bowled d/s at 11:40 am, so I didn't see anybody drinking around me, except for water and sodas. I did have to go during doubles, and I just waited until after doubles and had to wait a frame or two to switch to singles.

I will say this. Our pair was the last one to start on the low end of the house, and after we finished I countes at least 5 pairs that were still going, some with at least half a game to go. I don't know all the reasons why, I just know that some guys piddle around when it's thier turn to bowl and are slow on the approach also, it's just part of bowling now.

This is right, those guys needing 2 lanes need to be told to step up and bowl, I dont know how many times i walked up and a guy two lanes down backed off, about the 4th time I walked off thrust my ball on the rack and politely told him if he needed two effing lanes then take them, then proceeded to tell the lane monitor to tell this guy to get his head out of his azz and bowl, they clearly tell you in the squad room , "1 lane courtesy", usually i just say, "oh I didnt know we were doing two lane courtesy, thanks for telling me"  usually loud enough to embarass the guy

A little history, the current schedule of teams at 2 & 8:30 has not been in place very long. In the early days the team events were back to back at about 7 & 10:30 pm. I was on a shift scheduled for the 10:30pm one year and did not start until well after midnight. Not sure if it was Reno or not but we didn't finish until around 3am or so with D/S scheduled for early the next day. The present schedule was incorporated after many negative feed back sessions. There is now a built in break period to allow catching up and fresh oil for each team event which was not the case early on. They discovered that by splitting the D/S up they could stay close to on time. More time is lost in D/S than team events due to the rapid pace and when your bowling bad there is little incentive to keep rushing.

I worked at the doubles and singles house for our state tournament over the weekend. We had squads that ran over 4 hours to bowl 6 games with 6 bowlers on a pair. That is absolutely stupid that you cannot finish 6 games in under 3 1/2 hours with 6 people on a pair of lanes. I was working brackets, so it had an effect on me because the bowlers who did finish in a timely manner were hounding me for their bracket winnings. I couldn't payout until the slowpokes finished up. The tournament staff needs to stay on top of this type of stuff and remind the bowlers that it isn't league night and you can't go outside twice a game to cop a smoke.
