just got back and really was not what i expected. after 26 yrs i am averaging 198, but this year was really crazy to me. i know that team event is usually a little tighter so i drilled a new NVD pin down and it never saw action. my total inferno was to much ball also. i used my 4000 pin under middle finger ultra zone the most. will make a little money but boy are they flying even in team event. if you get in and have a ball that will push a little and recover you can knock them dead. i was on 41 and 42 in team and 25 thru 28 singles and doubles. very very playable if you have the right equipment. if you have any questions let me know. thanks Kevin

we did but we still had the same thing. i seen others around us that were getting the ball to push, but they were using older equipment. 3 to 4 yr old equipment. you dont need aggressive stuff at all. mild at best with no more than 2000 surface. the biggest problem is i listen to what i read and reacted to it. they are very playable. i learned my lesson and will go with what i know next year.

While reading this I thought to myself, guess I'm not the only one this happened to..I bought a Reign Of Fire and it didn't get past the second ball of practice..I've bowled about 15 nationals and that is the first time I can remember the lanes hooking on the back so much..They hooked in Vegas too but you could get a little push..

I am in no way bashing anyone or anything at all. i watched the vids of other high caliber teams and in no way shape or form is this what they bowled on. i am getting old, only 46. but i am not stupid. no matter what they tell me. i could not even come close to using what they were throwing or in the area of the lane they were throwing it on.  i watched Rigg's Team and Bo Goergen's Team, and i could not get the ball down the lane in that area.

This just goes to go to show the variability of the oil applied during any day and on any shift. Most people on this year's pattern had much heavier oil than in other years. What a load of major BS, this tournament has turned out to be.

Talking to different groups when they get back I get a wide range of stories. I have had guys say they could not get the ball to even wrinkle and the next guy says the were hooking more than ever. I have heard playing deep they hook more than up the boards in the track and then next person claims the opposite. I know ability and the amount of hand a bowler can get is going to make a huge difference. And to be honest I hear the same stories most years. Just a few years ago I was taking a highly polished, long pin layout ball for singles and playing 5th arrow or deeper. Last couple years our lanes never dried out anywhere close to before. I think I will go with carrying as many balls as I can fly with and with a nice range of strength, pins and surfaces. Hopefully one will give me the look I need to help our team shoot decent and then I have no problem getting deep and ripping or just softening up and playing a little fade if needed.

Tex i am one who is used to the Team being Flooded and playing more direct, but this year they are not that way. Take what you think you need, you know your game better than any one else. Out side for me i had to be so precise, but believe me they are hooking more than in the past. If i was bowling 3 and 4 nights a week and tourneys every weekend like 5 or 6 yrs ago, i could be sharp. Inside was where it was for me, if i only had a ball that was not as agressive that would push with pop on the backs. I came home and looked at the ball i should have taken. A pin up Street Rod Solid. That would have been the ticket for me. Something with out a strong motor. Again they are very very playable. Have fun and enjoy, let me know when you get back how you did.  Kevin
