I bowled with Mark on his team and can put up the argument that it was unfair. Walking across 3 pairs of vacant lanes that happen to be right next to the divide really makes people wonder (same as having certain machines only oil a few lanes and jump across the house). Yes it did suck not being able to get on any burn. Not only were we assigned fresh lanes, but how does one expect to break a fresh pair down when only allowed 2 shots per lane. That right there makes it even harder to put up scores. Although I did shoot well on the fresh, I wish I would have had the same opportunity to bowl on the burn like all the LEADERS have and possibly help my score out even more. And for those who wonder, this post is not coming from a bunch of "house hacks" that have no idea. Mark has a strong reputation throughout the state of Iowa and carried a very respectable average in his 14 years of this competition, and I am a collegiate bowler that has a large amount of success in college bowling. I really wish somebody could just answer this question. Hopefully somebody from USBC will run across this post and possibly make a reasonable statement about what happened.
