Looking for a good steak?
« on: March 28, 2009, 05:16:05 AM »
While in Las Vegas last week, we decided to try Austin's at the Texas Station Casino.  It was a great meal, around $180 for four of us, including a bar tab.  If we'd known ahead of time, we could have cut the bill quite a bit by sharing the a la carte side dishes.  Each one was enough to serve at least three, and probably four if everyone just wanted to sample.  Also, the steaks (except for the filet) are large enough for two to share, and the staff recommends it for the signature rib-eye (EXCELLENT!) and the Porterhouse.

Here's a review link if interested ... http://www.10best.com/Las_Vegas,NV/Restaurants/Steakhouses/78941/Austin%7cs_Steakhouse_North_Las_Vegas_NV/.

We went over there after our 5:30 p.m. D/S squad on a Friday evening.  Had 8:30 reservations but didn't really need them.  It was about a 15-minute drive from Cashman.

if you're looking for a great steak go to ted's montana grill. you can get a filet mignon, kc strip, or a delmonico ribeye, in your choice of beef or my favorite, bison. once you've had a bison steak you'll never go back to beef.

Greg, we went to Delmonico while we were out in Vegas, fantastic.  It was probably the best steak (bone-in Ribeye) I'd ever eaten.  It's a bit on the pricey side, but for a once in while splurge, it was well worth it.

If you are looking for good prime rib at a reasonable price, try Jerry's
Nugget.  For around $15, you can get a thick cut with all the trimmings.
Go north from Cashman about a mile.  It is not a good area of town, but this
place has been a successful restaurant for the 38 years that I have lived here.
