It is not fair...
« on: February 17, 2006, 09:57:13 PM »
but neither is life....

Why do the women get their own national tourney?

http://bowl.com/tournaments/usbcwomens/national/main.aspx

I thought the purpose of the USBC was to unite the sexes as one?  We should have ONE tournament for both sexes, thats that. period.

If they are going to have the OPEN tourney, why not get rid of the mixed tourney?  None of this makes any sense to me....

THS...196, Sport Shot...172, (insert McD's music)I'm lovin' it!

My better half knows and understands my position on this subject.  I want two seperate tournaments, is that wrong?  I do like mumzies idea, she said, "two tournaments, one scratch and one handicap".

My beef isn't the fact I have to bowl with women in the Open tourney.  My beef is that women get their OWN tourney.  Bowl or not bowl with them, doesn't matter.  But, I want fair treatment as a man for a change.

Why not simply limit the women to one tournament, either the Open or the womens but not both.  In other words, the gals would have to choose.  If they chose the national Open, they would not be allowed to bowl the national womens and vice versa.  I would also apply this rule to state and local championship tournaments.  Of course I know such a rule will never be adopted because the USBC, at most levels, is only concerned about maximizing entries and thereby the $ they take in.

If I recall right both ABC & WIBC had Nationals locations determined into the future.  If contracts were signed, how do you decide which contracts to break?  Neither associations Nationals are in the same locations.

I've said this before, I know women who would not bowl in any open tournament.  I also know women who enjoy competing with their spouse at Nationals.  So who do you tell they can't bowl Nationals?

Just some food for thought.

I like Bills idea...let them participate in one or the other---but not both. But that will never happen---the USBC will take any money the average bowler wants to fork over.

I fit into this category perfectly.

I bowled the WIBC and ABC from '96-'99, but when my bowling group expanded to include both men and women, I dropped bowling WIBC.

At WIBC, my team always followed a nice group of older ladies dropping Black Beauties three feet in front of the foul line, leaving black tracks all over the approach.  Bring on the canned ice, and the trick is to try to slide without pulling a hammy or a groin.

I like bowling the Open because it's the one time of year I get to see my internet friends, donate to the real champs who win the Eagles and try my hand at a tougher shot.

If the USBC makes me choose one over the other, it's the Open, hands down.

It's a blast.

It would be if it were a USBC event.

bowl.com does the courtesy of providing information about the tournament, yes, but nowhere on the entry form will you find any description of the National Mixed as an official USBC tournament.
