Leaving for Reno
« on: June 05, 2013, 05:00:23 PM »
Well I leave for Reno on Saturday, and I can only take four balls with me.
One will be my plastic ball, with out a doubt. Should I bring one pearl and two solids, or one solid, and two pearls.

If I take one pearl it will by my Storm Reign with pin down. My two solids are my Aftermath with pin up, and 900 Global purple Eagle pin up. Both solids have a different motion than one another, so they are not the same.

What do you think?

I was going to say... if you don't take that eagle, imma beat ya. Why not take the aftermath out and put in the dirty look? You could probably ball down to that after the eagle starts to hook up on you.

Thats what I would do if I took two pearls. But that is a BIG difference between the Eagle, and the Dirty Look.

Then I would sand the eagle, and Polish up the aftermath. IMO, sanded, they're too alike.

Would need to know your entire arsenal to make a better call but I think the two solids and the pin down Reign will give you a shot. It is really difficult to match up on a pattern until you throw them down the lane. Personally for my style low RG stuff has given me the best look in Reno.

This is what i used when i was there.

OOB Rico's Disturbed
2000AB Crossroad
OOB Lights Out
OOB Tropical Heat Hybrid

i used the disturbed for all of the team event and had a great look for 695.  I used the Crossroad for the doubles set and also had a nice look but missed a move late for 630.  Used the Lights out all of singles and a sub par middle game cost me a bigger set as i shot 677 for 1996 all events.

My advice would be to watch some of the events before you bowl and adjust the covers at the booths.  I took my crossroad to 2000 at the Storm booth for $5.  Also try to get a Bowler's journal set in, they played almost identical to what you'll see at the minor events (despite moving pairs after each game)

Ok guys, thanks for the advise.

We shall see how it goes. That is a good idea to adjust the covers after I arrive, and see for myself how the lanes are playing. As long as I shoot over 1800 I will be happy, that is always my goal.

I am also arriving on Saturday at 12:40.  We bowl on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll be staying at the Eldorado.  I plan to go to the stadium after lunch on Saturday to purchase a couple of balls since the only balls I have are for our house shots and from what I have seen and heard they will not work real well.  Being left handed we are pretty much left to our disadvantage/advantage to break down the shot.

When are you bowling?

I am bowling Sunday Team event at 9AM, then single and doubles Monday at 7AM.
I am Staying at Circus, Circus. We fill 2 teams every year, but its getting harder and harder to keep 10 guys going every year. Especially Reno, we have a couple of guys who refuse to go to Reno.

As for being Lefty, my doubles partner is Left handed also, so I do get a little help breaking the shot down.
