USBC Open Championships-men only?

I was wondering why the USBC does not have a separate tournament for men only?  The women have their own tournament while the men and women compete in the USBC open Championships.  I would be all for the women bowling in the big tourney if they didn't have their own tournament.  

This is the same situation in county tournaments.  We have a womens county tournament and an "open" tournament.  I'd just like to see a Men's Championship since the women have their own.

You did the Chicken Dance?  On the approach?!  I guess I'm lucky then, as I only had to do the Macarena in the paddock at the National Bowling Stadium.

After taking to the lanes and following a group of senior ladies dropping Black Beauties 3 feet in front of the foul line and sending in the clowns with the canned ice, trying to slide properly, I gave up.  I haven't been back to the women's tournament ever since.

I've bowled both the Open and the Women's tournament.
If you've ever followed a team of 5 women throwing 10 pound plastic stuff down the middle of the lane, with so many revs the ball looks like it's rolling backwards, you'll NEVER want to bowl with the women at a national event (and I' bowled Queens week...)

I personally think one tournament per gender is the right way - how about a mens tourney, a womens tourney, and an open?
Make the mens patterned after the womens, with 3 gazillion divisions (with the top division something like 150 like it is for the women. ).
Then make the open the scratch, single division classic level tournament.
Open to all genders - men, women, and whatever.

Now -as far as the gender changing thing -
the PWBA used a copy of your birth certificate to determine eligibility.
We had the same question come up locally, and the assoc. director said to use the drivers license. Of course, I live in a state where "men" become pregnant, and it's easy to change your registered gender.

If you run a men’s tournament separate from the open tournament do you run the risk of significantly decreasing the entries in the open tournament? With the economy the way it is how many people could afford two out of state bowling tournaments?

Yes. What do you think happened to scratch leagues. But on the plus side you would have a true national champion for S/D, team, and all events and then have your handicap champions.

What about just having the Open with divisions for Men/Women/Overall?  That way men & women compete on the same playing field, while having separate divisions.  There could also be an overall standings posted with prize money.  

They could just add an extra $5/10/20 extra fee for the mens/womens prize fund.

If there not going to have a Mens only tourney, then they should do away with the Women only tourney, and just have the Open.

I mean they no longer have the PWBA, women just compete with the PBA.

If they are going to have Women's Bowling, then women should not be able to compete in Men's tourneys.


Id have no problem competing with females, as a Junior Bowler I always compete against the few girls who actually show up. But If Women can bowl in a Men's tourney, then they shouldn't have their own.
