Game plan for Knoxville
« on: May 11, 2003, 08:02:09 PM »
I have some ideas for what I might try to do at the ABC's, and was wondering if it seems do-able or not, because as the famous theologian Mike Tyson once so eloquantly put it "Everyone has a game plan until you get punched in the mouth."  I'm planning on taking my Buzzsaw XXXL, Monster Frenzy (polished), and Optyx Formula 1.  I've heard the shot is inside, around 4th or 5th arrow or so, and I may give that a try in practice, though it is not a shot I'm real comfortable with.  My thinking is that the track area is difficult to play because of an over-under reaction (can't get it wide, because it's gone outside, and a little tug, and it takes off on the backends).  Thinking if I could square up with the plastic Buzzsaw, it could tame down the reaction on the backends.  Also curious if anyone tried the gutter shot (up 1 to 3 board).  May try that with one of the other balls.  I've heard sometimes the oil machines aren't able to get a good read on the edge of the lane, and there could be some friction there.  Enough ramblings, and thanks for the help.

Hi game I am going there myself this weekend. Is that when you are going? I am bowling teams Saturday at 2:30 and singles and doubles at 7 am sunday morning .

I have been reading the post by Hamster regarding Ron Bohr's 837 and he definitely played inside around the 4th arrow.

I also have been working with Magic Carpet who did play out on the twig. He did well as long as he kept the ball on line and didn't over hit it.

I hope to see you there if you are going this weekend.

Bob ,

We bowled practice games on the pattern last night your note of about when to change was spot on. For the third game the twig went away so jumped into the middle. I did have some problems getting the ball long enough but I believe I can cure that with slight adjustment of surface. I tried a lot of equipment and was suprised I had no problem getting both a polished V2 and a dulled V2 particle to play the twig. Axis rotation being the key the less the better. I might even look at a ball like the Track Magic for an axis drill for more stability. Thanks for the info  and I will keep practicing will be there in two weeks.
