what is the weight limit it used to be 70lbs last time i went it was 50lbs also can u carry 2 balls on in a tote 1 time we could next time we could not flying on northwest are u allowed 2 pieces of luggage and1 carrry on   thx   joe

Check the Airlines website to see Luggage Restrictions, it varies from Airline to Airline.

Most airlines its 50 lbs. some let you check 2 bags but some just 1.  I know that Spirit Air charges you for whatever you take except carry ons. A buddy of mine flew via Southwest and they let him carry a 2 ball tote as a carry on.  I don't see why they wouldn't let you, I've seen people bring all their luggage onboard and they weren't no hangin bags. LOL

Then again, last year I was told I couldn't carry on my 2-ball tote. Stupid security guy told me that the bowling balls were "dual-purpose" items. As a result, I missed my plane and had to wait.

And wouldn't you know it...this year, when I was flying the same airline (Southwest)...somebody had a 2-ball ROLLER on-board, that didn't frickin fit into any of the over-head bins except for one larger one near first class.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is...it's clearly a crap shoot.

I've always carried on at least a single ball bag and shoes, last year it was a two ball tote as i checked two peices at the counter, a three ball back with two balls and some clothes, my suitcase with a ball and some more clothes and carried on my two ball tote.  I could have checked the tote and carried the suitcase on, I flew AA the last couple of times and their limit is 50#/per peice of luggage

Everytime I carried on a ball onto a plane, they do there search on it, and test it out, some of you know what Im talking about.  I would suggest bringing 4 balls max.  2 totes and a luggage.  JMO

No offense to anyone, why not use BBE and ship your equipment and not worry about taking it on the plane. I have used them the last few times I had to fly and had nothing but a great experience. In fact, last year, I had to ship my stuff overnight, since I went out earlier then normal and was still bowling in my winter league. It cost a lot but it was worth it. It arrived like a day or two late, and BBE didn't charge me a penny. Just for that I will use them everytime I go somewhere I have to fly.

Think of it this way, one overweight or extra basg fee would pay to ship all your stuff out from anywhere in the lower 48 with BBE.

Unfortunatly I have to bowl on Tuesday and WEd this week and I fly out on thursday to bowl on Friday and Sat in ALB.  I dont have an option to ship my stuff.  It has to fly with me.  Most years that my wife comes with me it is not a problem because then we can have 4 bags + carry on.  It is years like this when she is not going that it causes me grief and heartburn.

Jorge is 100% on this one....I shipped this year with BBE and got my stuff there in 4 days and home in the same (Atlanta - Abq).  If you need to take balls on the plane you can get 6 on with some creative packaging.  I did this last year and took 2 on the plane, put 3 in a four ball box, and placed one in my suitcase packed tightly.

Past few years I have checked a three ball tote, packed one in tight with my clothes..  Packed my shoes and a two ball tote (folded down) in with the luggage..  then carried my target zone on in my back pack along with an extra pair of clothes (in case my luggage gets lots).....  It works, but it is hell on the back and shoulders carrying that damn thing around all the time..  Had it checked once coming out of Detroit metro..  never had it checked coming back...   When they checked it in Detroit, they told me I could not take it on the plane at the ticket counter when I asked (AA) I told her I was going to anyway..  When I went through the security line they just pulled it out of my bag and scanned it by itself..  then did a few chemical swab tests on it and told me not to drop it on anyone's head putting it in or taking it out of the overhead bins....

not really a feasible solution if you are going for many days.  usually more days require more clothes, unless you are not too worried about personal hygiene.  the clothes that we (dad and I) take would not fit into a carry on sized piece of luggage..
