My experience so far...
« on: June 28, 2008, 03:36:31 AM »
Bowled the Roto Grip yesterday and shot 430 (for two)... high was 438 for the day. I suspect I finished 2nd for the day. I bowled on the fresh morning pattern and played 15 to 10/11 but had to move to 17 to 11/12 by the end. I also took my hand out of the ball match the pattern. I missed 1 spare and had a couple terrible breaks (a stone 9 in the 9th of the first game between strikes). Started with a OOB Cell 5x4 but quickly changed to a Rapid Fire Perl drilled 5x5.

Bowled the 40Framer and shot 1059 which is somewhere in the middle of the pack of cashing. THEY WERE HOOKING as we bowled the last squad. I play 18/19 to 14/15 with my hand completely out of the ball and throwing it as hard as I could. I used an older Apocolypse. By the end I was playing 23 to 14/15. I missed two spares.

After reading the all the reviews here I had some good idea what to expect in the Team event. My plan was to play 16/17 to 12/13 at the end of the pattern. But I ended up starting 16/17 to 9/10/11 (which is the dark range finder down the lane). Really close. I started with a OOB Cell 5x4 which hit the hole every shot but could not carry. A couple 7's 4's and another solid 9 in the 9th between strikes. I shot 195 clean the first game. I decided that ball was burning up so in my fill ball I switch to the Rapid Fire Perl 5x5. 2nd game I shoot 269 clean. I bumped left a couple boards during that game with my feet and one with my target. 3rd game again carry went away as the oil pushed down and this ball simply could not recover. But I thought I could out execute a bad reaction without success... again leaving a couple 7's and flat 10's... I bumped my feet a couple left again and tried to still play about 11/12 at the break point and doubled near the end of the game the left and left an 8 pin in the 9th. I spared in the tenth and in the fill ball decided to throw my Mean Machine 3.5x5 and struck with a good look. Anyway I shot 203 clean for 677 but more important 30 clean.

I bowl doubles and singles today. For those that know my son is bowling with me... he shot 626 with a 170something in game 2. He also is my doubles partner today. I will post back in couple days after I get back home (another 14 hour drive...yuk!).

Well, in doubles I shot 579 and singles 626... I could get to the pocket but could not finding any ball that would carry. But as a side note I shot 2nd 30 clean in singles... I had two big splits in double which kept me from shooting all 3 sets as 30 clean.

I had 1869 all events ... Son had 1893 in all events and 644 in singles. So it appears we both cashed in all catagories .. team, doubles, singles and all events.

Congrats on the second 30 clean.  Your carry issues sound like me last year at Reno.

Good bowling to both of you.

Pin-Chaser,

It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and your son. You both throw the ball extremely well and I was more than impressed. Please be sure to keep in touch and let me know how that grip change works out for you..
