Hotel Information

What recommendations do you guys have for the best hotel to stay at...looking at convinience, price and service.  Heard already that the Belle was overrated, so wanting to know which hotels everyone actually liked.

thanks!

I stayed at the Best Western in Port Allen across the river from Baton Rouge. The room was good and it has a pool.  It is a 10 minute drive to down town.  I went on-line and got $67/night for a room with a king bed.

I stayed at a Ramada Inn, Gwenadele about 6 miles East of Downtown.  I got it for $55/night and it is next door to a place that has go-carts, 54 holes of miniature golf, batting cages, game room, etc...  Room was decent especially considering there were only 2 of us in the room (you dont spend much time in the room anyway).  Breakfast was decent as well.  The Don Carter Center where one of the side tournaments was being held is only a block away.  I recommend it.  Only thing is ask for a room towards the back.  We had a room right out front and it can get a little noisy outside the room first thing in the morning.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza on Constitution, it's on a frontage road that runs parallel to I-10.  It was about 7-8 mins to the River Center during non-rush hour times.  There is a Ruth Chris Steakhouse easily within walking distance.

Overall, really nice plus free full breakfast included, an onsite bar, pool, ample parking, valet parking, a gift shop, a convienent business center with pc and printer if needed plus free wi-fi in room.

Nice staff, would stay there again if in the area.

+1 for the Crowne
booked through the USBC website and paid like 83/nite
close, decent, would stay there again

traffic can be brutal around the convention center if there is anything going on at the same time
be careful, parking disappears in a hurry

Courtyard Mariott via priceline for $70/night (search for 3 star, downtown area).  That's before tax though, it's about $85/night after the tax.  Nice place, location was good, no free breakfast though.

We stayed at the DoubleTree, right up from the Crowne on Constitution. Rooms were really nice, big screen TV's, staff was friendly, food was good, not great. They have a breakfast in the morning, not free but reasonable. Plus, one big thing for me, with having work laptop along, internet was included in the room price, not an extra fee. Was about 90/night when we went, if prepaid. Thought it was well worth it. Ruth Christ's, Chili's were close by, Taco Bell and Chick-Fil-A as well.
