After several years of puddling in the low 180's for the set, I read Mark Baker's Game Changer book a few months ago, and was seeing improvements in my consistency and accuracy in league, but was really looking foward to seeing how my mechanics would hold up at Nationals. Team event I started slow with a 157, couple bad breaks, and just too caught up in the situation, and saw I wasn't trusting my swing the way I should, and decided to start with the next game. Proceeded to go 182, 183 to finish with a 522, not great, and we didn't cash in team, but I was encouraged by the next two scores, and still felt I could do better the next night. Next night we bowl at 10:30 p.m., not excited about the squad time, but I figured once we got started, time would be irrelevant. Singles, I go 193, 204, 194 for a 591, much better, and with the doubles score of 1125, knew I got some money back for that. I felt if I could finish with a 600+ I'd go home feeling happy, switched balls from my IQ Tour Pearl to my Eagle, and found a touch more area, as the middle began to open up a bit. Went 226, 204, 236 finishing with a 664, and made for a very good drive home. Definitely the most comfortable I've ever felt at the Open, and my thanks to Mark Baker, if a coach can change your game that much, through writing a book, let alone a hands on coaching session, my hat's truly off to him. Hope others had good experiences also, and if you struggled, it's very easy to happen, the most important part is to learn from it, and allow it to help make you better.
