Nationals looking for new City in 2011

For some dumb reason, the City of Wichita couldnt agree with the USBC to hold the tourney.  Im pissed, as I was looking foward to NOT having drive far or flying.

San An is a great idea.  I went twice when I was in junior high and would love to go again.  Atlanta I could give a flip, my stepsister is there and if anyone found out I was in Atlanta for bowling and didn't see her, I'd hear about it for a long time.

Mr. Brian Lewis, the current Tournament Director, just replied to me not ten minutes from when I sent my email and they are talking to SA and ATL among many others.

Side note: SA is my home town and I'd love to go home and have my family there to watch me "bowl", or whatever you call it at the USBCs. LOL.

Bring the tourny to Des Moines.  Casinos and bars everywhere.  plenty of convention centers to host it.

We made a side trip to SA after the Corpus event...HAD A BLAST.  Atlanta would also be a fun trip.  At my old job, I dealt with an office in Atlanta and it seemed like a fun place to visit.

I Nominate: Cleveland, Ohio.

For convention space, you have the IX Center, the Cleveland Convention Center, + a number of large hotels. Lots of decent bowling alleys in the area.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a major hub for Continental Airlines, and serves all major domestic carriers.

Amenities/attractions include:

Professional Sports Teams: Browns (NFL), Indians (MLB), Cavaliers (NBA)
The Great Lakes Science Center (very good for kids!)
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Flats (Cuyahoga River/Lake Erie nightlife and restaurants)
1 hr. away from Cedar Point Amusement Park, 30 mins away from Geauga Lake and WildWater Kingdom
Lots of Golf Courses w/in 30 mins. of downtown

Cleveland? Not a bad choice considering all you mentioned including Cedar Pointe. I'd go!

I dont htink Atlanta would give up teh CNN center for 6 months.  I think if it will be in Georgia, it would be a better shot at being in Savannah.  I just it to be some place that can be driven to (Or at least having that option).  My dad had never seen me bowl Nationals before, and he hated flying so i made every effort for him to go to Baton Rouge, because the next time there was another possibility of driving again would have been Wich. in 2011 or Baton Rouge, and by then my dad would have been late 60s.  Luckily he got to watch me bowl there, and he got to do what he always wanted to.  It was fortunate that he did, because he died of a massive heart attack last year in April.  I know there is a limited number of cities willing to bid on Nationals, but, there shouldn't be an 8-9 year gap for an area of the country has to continually fly to Nationals.

There are many other spots other than the convention center that has the space to handle it.
Gaylord Palms, Disney hotels, other hotels, Universal Studio sound stages.

Cleveland is a bad choice.  its a city full of people who cant make right choices.  for instance look at the sports franchises and see how many championships they have had in the last 40 years.  i live just outside of cleveland and will be moving away.  Cleveland is turning into the next Detroit.  And gambling is illegal in ohio.  My choice would be to go to Fort Wayne or Toledo or Detroit.  Cincinatti is not a bad idea either.  How about myrtle beach or hilton head.  Boston i think would be nice also except the traffic is aweful.

since many seem to be ignoring the realities of the bidding process, i might as well throw in my fantasy.  kapalua in maui would be really great.  i also thought salmon, idaho area was very nice when i went there for a week long fishing trip.
