There are photographers at Nationals who take team pictures before the team event and individual pictures before doubles/singles. For the individual pictures, there is a short lane (no pins) set up with a camera mounted above it, so that they can take your picture as you make a delivery. They let you warm up before you have your picture taken, so you can make a shot worth preserving on film (or digital memory
).
As has been suggested above, many bowlers pay for the photo (you can't use the stub lane if you haven't signed up for a photo) just to get the warm-up time.
I not only remember when they only gave two shots per lane in team, but when there was NO practice at all for doubles/singles.
