USBC Tourney........................
« on: December 09, 2006, 01:54:32 PM »
I haven't been to this in years, and at that time I was throwing Brunswick's LT-48,if that tells you anything.
I'm curious about ball companies' pricing there.Should I wait till I get there to buy something,or is there no price difference in what I'd pay through my pro shop???????
Example: The One through the pro shop where I bowl is 201.95,including grips, slug, and drilling.

I think it is a matter of how pleased you are with your local drillers abilities as much as the price.

If you are happy with the service you receive locally I would get the new ball there.

A couple of benefits to this.
You have a chance to roll a few games with it to see how it compares to what you already have.
You have will have more timr to work out any fit intricacies you may have.

I went last year.  I didn't see much of anything that made me say, "WOW".  Ebonite had some closeout stuff at 75 bucks, Visionary had some too.

If you plan on buying a ball TAKE YOUR OWN INSERTS.  I think the bwick booth was 12 for finger and 15 for thumb!

Outragious.

If it helps any, I got an AMF Radar at last years (I was there in early June) for 221 out the door.  Average pro shop price I guess.  Needed to replace a cracked Big Blue Pearl, and think I made a pretty good choice, the Columbia rep that was at the booth was so helpful, it made me feel very comfortable about the choice.

I was in Reno in Nov. they had the Storm Diablo drill for under $120.00. Of course that was the Storm National Mixed Tournament. There is normally something there form one of the ball company's at a good price.

Then if you go later, such as in June like I do, nothing is released until after BowlExpo, which is usually the following week after the tourney has ended.

Bowl Expo is actually the same as the last week of the tourney this year.  Bowl Expo is the same time as IPBSIA Conference is 6/24 - 6/26 and Bowl Expo follows.

Wasn't the Diablo the "featured" Storm ball?  After all, Storm is a sponsor for the tournament...

The discounts on the balls at Natls arent what they used to be.  I remember getting high end ball for about what pro shops buy them for from distributors.  I bought a Rock On for $110.00 and a Scout/R for $45.00.  Not anymore.  High end stuff is closer to what you pay in your pro shops and a little discount if you want the ball with no drilling.  Visionary usually has some older discontinued stuff there on a closeout.  I believe they had some Warlock DC Tours there last year for pretty cheap.  I would just get it from your pro shop if you are comfortable with their pricing and fitting.
