Side tournaments in Reno
« on: February 19, 2007, 03:00:05 PM »
So if you only had time for one side tournament at Reno this year, which would it be and why? Forty frame, BJ, or BTM? (am I missing one?)

Personally I would take the highest paying one, but I'm not sure which it is... I'll figure it out when I get there

BTM - most challenging shot out there. If you make money there you definately earned it. Just wish it had a higher visibility.

BTM is for shotmakers and if you bowl it before the USBC you might find you have more room at the USBC. It is a great tune-up tourney. BJ has become mostly a house shot carry contest where it never use to be 6-8 years ago. The 40 framer is really a fun time.

I bowled the BTM this year...you earn EVERY stick you get.  It is a flat 1:1 pattern...I shot 50 under for 4 and the lanes that night seemed walled up for the team event....lol

I will bowl all but the 40 Frame Game while in Reno.  Bowling the 40 Frame Game with 0 handicap isn't a money making proposition.  I will bowl the Bowlers Journal and the Bowling this Month.

But, if I could only choose one, it would be the Bowling this Month tournament.  Very tough shot in which you must be very consistent with release, speed, ball placement, etc.  If you do well in that tournament, you have proved something to yourself and others.

I will only be doing one side tournament this year.  It will be the Bowling this Month (BTM).
