New Booth this year...
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:57:46 PM »
While I was at the Masters on Tuesday I noticed something I thought was a bit different this year for the venue.  You enter the building and go right thru the booth in order to get to the registration desk.  While I was walking thru I saw all the usual suspects and I noticed a new booth this year.  It was booth for a Gentleman's club in Vegas.  The thing that caught my eye was the 2 beautiful women there manning the booth.  What is your opinion on this being in the USBC Open Championship vendor area.  What message is the USBC trying to send to the world.  I know this is Vegas but, be aware if your wife/girlfriend is offended by this you will hear about it from her because you cant miss it. It is right next to the USBC souvenir store.

Eye candy aside, it's probably not the best venue.

Seems like "womaning" the booth might be more appropriate.

If you have to worry about "hearing it" from your wife/gf without even going to the booth and talking to the, um, spokeswomen...I feel sorry for you.  If you're dumb enough to go into the booth with your SO right there, then you deserve it.  As long as the girls are dressed appropriately, since children are often present at USBC, I don't see the problem with a gentlemen's club having a booth.

I think the message the USBC is sending to the world is that they need revenue just like everyone else in this economy, so if a legitimate local business wants to spend the money on a booth, they're gonna sell that business a booth.

IMHO, the USBC are friggin idiots.  This tournament is their cash cow, why would you even consider offending or turning away any of the participants just so you can get a minor amount of money for a booth.  And how would I explain to my young granddaughter who would come to watch me bowl "oh Grandpa just LOVES to bowl the Open, the main reason he comes is for the LAP DANCERS".  IDIOTS.

What would you consider "dressed appropriatly"  would you consider low cut tops and shorts so short you can count the ....

That is what the 2 girls had on Tuesday.  This is not a booth you have to walk into to see the girls there.  It is a one sided booth and open for all to see right on the main walk thru to get to registration.

I agree with the point about the kids.  While I was there on Tuesday there was a group of about 50 high school kids getting the grand tour.  While High school kids living in Vegas have probably been exposed to a lot worse than this if you are bringing your smaller children I would be offended.

I think that manner of dress is fine.  Forget kids living in Vegas, I've seen girls wearing less walking around the streets of Chicago on a summer day.  Ever go to the beach?

I mentioned this to my mother, who is 68, and her reply was "Who cares?  If you can't trust your partner, then you have bigger issues and maybe you should re-examine your relationship"

The girls are fully, albeit scantily, dressed, and I'm guessing they don't have poles set up in the booth, so I don't see what there is to be offended by this booth.

Go walk down the strip in the middle of the day, you'll be accosted by dozens of people handing out cards for escorts.  Those cards and newspapers are everywhere for everyone to see, I'd have a harder time explaining that to a young child than I would trying to explain what a gentleman's club is.

Maybe we can get a USBC discount for private dances or other "personal services" from this vendor?

Well being that they probably paid $12-15,000 for that little spot. I don't think the USBC really cares!!!

Beans you hit it right on the head.  I personally had no problem with it and neither did my wife.  I actually got a good laugh from it.  It is about the money.  As far as the comment about the pamphlets being handed out on the strip you are right.  They are on the strip.  But, I did notice this visit that they are not as prominent as they have been in the past.  The people I saw handing them out where mostly in front of Harrahs.  Also, with this being Sin city why would you bring kids to the city any way?  I have 3 sons and I have told them that I would be happy to take them to Vegas as soon as they turn 21.  I did not see them any where else and I walked from TI down to MGM and back on Monday.

I was just bringing up a point on this thread about how desperate this makes the USBC look.  If you look at their website there is a major focus on children and growing the sport.  My last question is what does a Gentleman's club having a booth in the premier event for an organization have anything to do with bowling?  I understand it has a lot to do with Vegas.
