New Booth this year...
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:57:46 PM »
While I was at the Masters on Tuesday I noticed something I thought was a bit different this year for the venue.  You enter the building and go right thru the booth in order to get to the registration desk.  While I was walking thru I saw all the usual suspects and I noticed a new booth this year.  It was booth for a Gentleman's club in Vegas.  The thing that caught my eye was the 2 beautiful women there manning the booth.  What is your opinion on this being in the USBC Open Championship vendor area.  What message is the USBC trying to send to the world.  I know this is Vegas but, be aware if your wife/girlfriend is offended by this you will hear about it from her because you cant miss it. It is right next to the USBC souvenir store.

Phoneman, I agree with not taking kids to Vegas, my brother has two kids under 5 and they aren't coming, but I brought up that point because another poster talked about his grand daughter coming to watch.  More and more people are in fact bringing children to Vegas, whether for the tournament or just for vacation, and there are worse things to have to explain than what a gentleman's club is.

The club has nothing to do with bowling.  But when I go to the Chicago Auto Show, what does the "Super Food Dehydrator" or Ginsu Knives have to with cars?  Again, nothing.  The people in those booths know that people attending the auto show are also in their target audience and are likely to buy the product.  It's all about advertising.  I can't remember what it was, but there were at least 2 booths last year that had zero to do with bowling or souveniers and I don't remember anyone ever complaining.  There's a five page complaint post about this same subject on Bowl.com.

Everybody is desperate in this economy, the USBC needs to generate revenue to help pay for the tournament and pay for other programs they run.  I think all the people complaining need to look at it as a business decision, not some moral/integrity question.

Serious question I just thought of...Does the USBC, or any entity holding a public convention, have the right to turn away someone that wants to have a booth?  Maybe it's in the agreement that the City of Las Vegas says that any local business willing to pay the booth rental fee has to be allowed a booth.

I was there on Monday for the masters practice session...
One of the women actually "came out of the booth" and was following a really good looking bowler down the walkway. When she caught up to him, she actually looked embarrassed when he shook his head and said no.

I got quite a giggle out of it.

That's just horrible, atrocious, I can't believe they would allow such a thing!  Okay, um I thought maybe some girls were walking around in thongs or something, which would have been much cooler, and maybe even a cause of controversy, but that booth is no cause for anything.

I think it's a great fit.

Bowler 1 says, "hey guys we just shot a team series of 2015 here at nationals, what should we do next?"

Bowler 2 says, "only one thing can get my mind off of my 341 series....and that's some boobies!"

How convenient there is a booth right there with information on how to see some boobies.

Good idea

Man, I'm such a dork, I can't believe I forgot about the web cams..

Thanks for the photo Beans

That is a nice pic, shows just how uptight some people are..  Get their pants all in a wad over some preconceived notion of some topic they think they are offended by because they think they should be offended by it..

If that makes any sense...

I will add that they have booty shorts on that are not visible in the photo. Not super small by any means..

I guess it's as wholesome as a Gentlemen's Club booth can be!!

I simply cannot believe that anyone would complain about that picture.  People...you ARE going to sin city.  What do you expect??  Bowl well take in the sights and enjoy the tourney.  Afterall...if you were going to Vegas to just gamble you would face the same set of circumstances and advertisements for adult things as you will being there for the tournament.  Enjoy and stop getting worked up!!!  You can see more skin watching TV on Monday night at 8 or 9 pm.

Morals have nothing to do with it.  It is the USBC's premiere tournament.  This is how bowling is represented to over 80,000 MEMBERS of the USBC organization.  I find that having strippers and lap dancers in a booth at the OPEN to be inappropriate.  I am a MEMBER of the USBC.  I am positive that I am not alone in my opinion.  It is just an inappropriate way to generate revenue.  I have e-mailed the tournament director and the sponsorship director, NEITHER have responded (SHOCKER).  My 2 cents: they are freakin idiots for even considering these kinds of sponsors.

It is just like a TV or radio show. You select to see it or listen to it. You have brains to make a choice. Remember "Free Will". Nobody is gliding or pushing you into the booth. If you find that it is not legal then go tell the Vegas cops about it. Be a crime stopper or you may raise some eye brows.

Actually, in this venue, everyone has to walk past this booth. You come in the front door, and are automatically dumped into the booths.
You have to walk through all of them to get to checkin, etc.
You can't walk the length of the lanes unless you're in the bowling area.
To go from one spectator area to another, you have to go back out into the booth area.

So - at this tournament, at least, everyone will get to see the ladies...
