Do they re-rate bowlers in National's?  Bob Godden's has averaged 176, last year, 175 previous, 178 in 2006 and 179 in 2005 in league.  
Yet here are his scores in National's; he is currently all events leader in classified with 1854, thats a 206 average.
Last year he shot 1767, 196 average.
In 2007 he shot 1720, 191.
2006 he shot 1732, 192.
2005 he shot 1702, 189.

His average for the past 5 National tournaments is ~195.  They re-rate in other tournaments, why not nationals?

I think it would be to hard to re-rate for nationals... anybody can get lucky for 9 games.  Also it takes alot of work to keep a 178-179 average, and if people are willing to do that so they can do well at a few tournaments each year they should be able to.

I think they would rerate/disqualify him if he did something wrong per the rules.  If the nationals are the only tournament he bowls, if would be difficult to rerate him based on score.  

The other issue is: did he go over the money winnings and did not report.  If he did, then it would be basis for rerate/disqualification.  For 2008 he received $790 all events (that is not counting single, doubles, and team).  He should have reported that.

Based on your information a local tournament can rerate him.  Especially, if the rule allow rerates at the tournament director's discretion.

It's not for 9 games.  His average for 45 games at Nationals is 195.

Well when I won a tournament and received $500.  I was asked that question and then re-rated.  Mr. Godden placed 17 in all events, 51st in singles, 208 in doubles.  Hard to believe he only received $790.  But still, he should have been re-rated.

Did a quick search of the web (google/bob godden bowling).  There is a Bob Godden who won $3,200 in an ABT event in Las Vegas in August 2008.  In October 2008 a Bob Godden won $2,500 in ABT again.  He was also high in the 2008 ABT summer tournament.  Can't figure out how much he got for that one.  For sure, that should have been reported to USBC for average adjustment.

Did a google search of his team on 5/20.  One if his team Yadao won an ABT in Sept 08 for $500.

I noticed in his achievements he got 11 in a row with a 715 series.  Funny how that was done in the summer when you don't have enough games to establish an average.

The Nationals is not a "handicap" tournament. There are 2 divisions based on average, but within those everything is scratch. The OP is talking about someone who has sandbagged to get into the lower division, but it looks like he is going to be caught by USBC.

Can you say DQ?
