New Team Record tonight
« on: April 02, 2013, 11:06:28 PM »
Just wanted to give a shout out to my friend and teammate Mitch Jabczenski Sr. and his squad for setting the new team record out t the Open Championships. 3538 beating the old record by one pin.

Good shooting guys. Haven't seen a press release yet but saw Jeff Ussery post it on FB and The Hammer Booth shared it.

His teammates were John Gaines, John Janawicz, Vernon Peterson, and Scott Newell. Must be a thrill for all those guys. From what I heard Janawicz needed to punch the 10th frame of game 3 for the record. Talk about some pressure....lol.

Another team cracked 3500 this weekend with a 3521.  I watched Gaines team throw their 3rd game in the 3538 set.  This might be the best condition I have seen at nationals for good high rev players.  I was talking to a friend of mine who works the booths, and he was betting me the 3538 wouldn't hold up.  I disagreed, but he may be right.

I don't know.. I mean, I really don't..

averaging it out, seeing that 3500 is 700 per bowler, it's going to take consistent 240s per bowler per game to break that.. Not that it isn't possible, but that is a tough and tall order to do..

From what I have seen on the webcasts that I went back and watched, the shot is not easy by any means. But with 10 people working together and breaking them down correctly, you can turn it into a much easier pattern. Plus with the new Ice oil holding up better, you don't see the breakdown of the shot and once you create a good look, it stays much longer. Teams that work together and execute well, will score well. Teams that don't, won't. Same as last year and the year's before. Will someone break the new record.....I say it is possible. Teams like Linds Lakers, Turbo 2-n-1 (now 11thFrame.com I think), and some others have the talent/skill and the gameplans to put the record within reach, but it will take everything falling into place from Game 1, Frame 1 and a little luck to make that happen.

Not saying that tracking the shot in isnt important, but these guys shot 1206 out of the gate.  Clearly had something to work with from ball one.  I bowled the next day, and threw the ball terrible in team, but it was clear to me that this pattern has the highest scoring potential that I have seen at nationals in a long time.  There is a bit more room to the right out of the gate, and the 41 foot patterns sets up with some hold area by the middle of the second game if guys arent immediately jumping in and trashing the shot.   Bottom line, the initial pattern gives the heavy handed guys a bit more room, and the straighter players get some fall back as the shot moves in.
