Clean block at "The BTM"
« on: April 11, 2006, 11:10:29 PM »
Senior bowler Benny Hoefs shot 3 out of 4 clean games on Sunday, bowled the USBC and helped his team take over the lead in Team All Events, then Monday came out and bowled with Robin Crawford to shoot 4 clean games. He picked up a 3-10, 4-9 and tough 3-6-10 in the 39th frame to shoot 851. He took over the Senior lead, Regular Doubles (1660)lead, and 8-game total lead. He will get at least a share of the Peppermill Clean Block Jackpot of $15,000. If no one else qualifies, he will receive it all...for a $10 entry fee. You can check out the leaders at www.bowlingthismonth.com.

Would you believe it? Another clean 4 games at "The  BTM". We had over 10,000 entries the first 3 1/2 yrs and no one had a clean four games. Now in less than a week, there are two.
Rick Miller, Lincoln, Nebraska had 4 clean games and shot 189-215-227-213= 843. This was his 3rd time to bowl. He bowled 2 times Sunday and shot 835 his second time Sunday. Still no series over 876 this year. The shot is the hardest its ever been, but two clean blocks. Nice bowling Rick!

That's bowling on a flat 48 foot pattern for you.

my suggestion, don't bowl the first set.  I made that mistake the other day.  wow being Texas, I see they don't have a shortage of oil here.  lol  I would try shooting later blocks, the lanes are more playable.  Just my friendly advice.

There have been 4 clean blocks so far. No 900s yet. 3 of the 4 came on the fresh oil.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to shoot those three spares to finish off a block.

Personally, I hate 3-6-10 combinations.  I've tried many lines or systems, but haven't been comfortable shooting them for a long time.  Should it be hard?  No, but for some of us, it is.

When you bowl on the conditions that are there at the BTM that spare is tough.

You'll chop it more times than you can count if you treat spare shooting like it's a standard house shot there.
