Old time balls for s/d?
« on: June 18, 2005, 02:39:27 PM »
I just bought a nib columbia black udot. Its drilled for max weights for its time. Anyone shot the abc using anything close to this? I mean were talking back in the 80's or so? I am not a big swinger of the ball and wondered how this might work for burnt third shift lanes.

shipper,

I don't think they get burned up enough to use a udot bud. Atleast they didn't while I was still there. My primary ball was the Track Arsenal Angular. You need something that will clear the heads, but will still give you some explosion on the backends.

I caught the 11:40 squad for D/S and the lanes were already a little toasted during Doubles even the outside of 10 was flooded. However, when we moved for SIngles, they were really burnt. I was standing in front of the ball return and hitting 30 at the arrows and flaring to 12 (Yes over the gutter caps) with a tamely drilled Ebonite Ice polished to 2000 grit. If you can throw the ball hard with NO, and I mean NO revs, you may be alright 3rd shift as long as you stay at 12 and not inside or outside of it.
