I won't bore you with my scores since i had thrown 7 games total between last year's event (we bowled July last year) and this year. However, here is what i saw and what i think.
First, it appeared very clear to me that the breakpoint on the team pattern was out at around 6-7. I am speed dominant, generally, so used early reving ball and started out around 8 with slight swing to 5. Inside 5 generally missed right early although you can still play the gutter with the right speed.
Unfortunately (for me) we had several of our 10 players starting out playing inside of that (15 - 10) and the scores were not very good as the backends were just too strong. By the time a couple of them were consistently hitting the pocket there was a definite wet-dry condition.
i think those commenting that you have about 2 boards are probably correct. I simply dont have the skill set for that right now. There were certainly guys hooking the lane (including me late) but i found toward the end of the set i had a better look straight up 5 with a lot of speed.
I know this is a very general summary and can provide a complete blow-by-blow but the eyes don't lie - just watch the misses on the live feed.
Carry, on the other hand, was very good. Not sure what pins are in use right now (obviously newer since it just started) but minimal contact seems to send them toppling.
we bowl minors at 1 PM today . maybe will take a couple of short videos.
