Registration for 2020
« on: March 11, 2019, 11:52:19 AM »
Registration for the 2020 tournament opened at 12:00 Noon eastern time 3/11/19.

I got in as soon as the link showed up on the page, selected my dates, and times and were promptly told the squads I wanted were sold out.

I'm not sure that in the first 5 minutes of registration for a 120 day tournament that my chosen days and squad was sold out without some sort of presale going on.

I suppose with the internet it is possible but it makes me feel like getting concert tickets and the concert sells out 5 minutes after general ticket sales start. Between fan clubs and robots buying tickets they are gone in an instant.

I'm sure no robots were buying entries but it just doesn't feel right. And these were weekday squads not a weekend.

I was able to move to the next day and get in there so we are still good to go. But even those days only had 2 slots open for the team in doubles/singles.

USBC has some dates that are already "blocked" for certain people. At least that is how I understand it. One guy in my area usually takes 20+ teams and has the same dates/times every year. So his are blocked for anyone else before registration even opens to the rest of us. He doesn't prepay these squads the way I do with my piddly 4+ teams, and if he can't fill all of them, he has until November 15th to let USBC know to release those slots.

At least that's what he claims, so it might be bullshit. It would however explain why the rest of us have to battle to get decent squad times.

I would bet that is the also case for some of the favored bowlers like Riggs etc.
