Rental cars?

Do most people rent cars out at Vegas, or is everything pretty much in walking distance?

Me: "These lanes are tight. I have 2 boards!"
My buddy with front 8: "Me too!"
Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"

One thing about Vegas, looks are deceiving as far a distance. I once walked downtown from Circus Circus in 100 degree heat. It was much farther than it looked.

If you have never been to Vegas, use a cab the first time. Its not that easy driving around.

Depends where you stay...

This year I bet a number of people will rent cars.  The convention center is off the beaten path and is a $15-$20 cab ride each way from the center of the strip.

If you are on the strip (center or south), you have tons of casinos and restaurants within walking distance.  Same goes if you stay on Fremont St.  The Duece is $2(?) each way and will go up and down the strip and downtown (i think).  Cabs from the south side of the strip to something on the north will probably run you $7.

Our group is renting a car.  Parking is free at the casinos, and if you can get something for $20 or so a day, you more than break even.

I was just in vegas last month and we rented a car for 9 bucks a day..
I don't know why it was so cheap.. 4 days was like 45-48 bucks after taxes... insurance declined..
It is worth it.. you will save money by not taking cabs.. they can add up...
waiting in cab lines isn't fun either..

there are also tons of shuttles that take you from casino to casino...but it only depends on where you stay, all the coast casinos have shuttles

If you stay on the strip you can walk from casino to casino but note that just going a couple of casinos down the strip maybe a half mile hike. The resorts are huge.

Using the bus is a cheap option. There are a couple of mono-rail systems connecting some of the casinos.

Excalibur to Luxor I believe and Bellagio to the Mirage and Treasure Island and I these use to be free but you have to wander thru the casino's to get to them.

The city owned runs from the MGM grand down the strip to about the Imperial palace and then turns and goes to the Hilton I believe. It makes stops at several of the casinos on the east side of the strip.

The Strip is several miles from the Cashman center. In fact I believe the strip is probably at least 3 miles long from the Sahara to Mandaly Bay.

Downtown everything is in easy walking distance and cashman is less than a mile away but some of the neighborhoods might not be a place to be after dark once you get off Fremont street.

Ok there is no connection between the Bellagio and anything.  There used to be betweent he Bellagio and monte Carlo but it is gone to make room for City Center.  The City monorail runs from MGM to the Sahara with stops at the hilton and main Convention center also Ballys and Imperial Palace and Harrahs.  Mirage and TI are connected with a tram.  Excaliber to Mandalay Bay is a Monorail.  From Mandalay bay to Excaliber is a monorail.  If you are staying on the strip i would rent a car to get to Cashman or to get to the off strip properties.  If you are staying in Downtown I would either walk or take a cab.  If you are staying off strip you might want to rent a car also.
