Riggs,
It happens all over. My mother-in-law works banquets for a local Embassy Suites and the Ohio USBC has there annual HOF dinner there the first Saturday in November each year. She was nice enough to grab a program for me since she knows I bowl. In the performance category, Jerri Edwards was elected.
Now this is no way an indictment or to say she is undeserving as her listed accomplishments were very strong all the way back to college and PWBA along with her coaching credentials. This would be very HOF worthy if she had done any of them while a resident of Ohio. Since Jerri has moved to the Akron area back in the mid 90's, she has not bowled in anything other than an occasional league. She has continued her coaching excellence with Team USA, etc. but this was a nomination for superior performance. She has never bowled on a state or local championship team during her tenure in Ohio.
Please do not think this is a personal vendetta against Jerri personally as she is not to blame. The Ohio USBC is the one that nominated her and elected her. Since I have met Ms. Edwards a few times thru a mutual friend, I would venture to guess that she might have even been embarassed once she found out if was for performance.
From local directors with personal agendas to national decisions that are hard to comprehend, it goes on thru out all aspects of USBC.
