Title: Slick Lanes
Post by: strikeking on May 01, 2007, 01:24:14 AM
I just got back from Reno and my advice is if you go take something that hooks. They oil the lanes every mornimg and before each team event. Which amounts to 3 times a day. Most of the bowlers were having some problems getting the ball to finish and most spares were missed right. If you bowl singles and doubles after a team event, the lanes were much better as far as finishing was concerned. The "No thumb" boys had a pretty nice shot when the oil was fresh.

Thanks for posting. It seems that there are bowlers who try to help others out by posting and answering questions and there are ones who seem to keep everything to themselves.

The lanes were definately slick and played very tight, but they were very playable.  I didn't have any issues with my balls finishing, I just didn't cover many boards to get to the pocket.

Those who missed spares to the right were the one that try to hook the ball and cover boards to get spares.  Straighter is definately greater when shooting spares in Reno, and every other tournament with something other than a house shot put down.

When the alleys are as slick as you say, speed control is at
a premium, and accuracy is always key at the nationals. As posted
prior, if you are used to throwing straight at your spares, then
missing to the right should not be an issue. I plan on taking a
Roto Epic Battle, which loves the heavier patterns. I can also throw
from 13 mph, up to 17 mph, and can control it pretty well. I go down
this weekend on 5/4 and 5/5 to Reno, and will post my findings, and no
I dont hold back information about what I see on the lanes, I will
share with ballreview posters.
Going to nationals with.
