Title: Storm/Roto Booth
Post by: VBP-Dustin on May 04, 2009, 03:18:08 AM
Any decent deals in the Storm or Roto booth this year?  I wouldn't think there would be too many cuz I leave at the end of the month and was wondering if they had anything.

Got back last week...there is a rack in the Storm / Roto booth with various $100 balls on it.  From what I saw the best deals were at the Hammer Booth...but I didn't really get to spend any time Ebonite / K&K booth so there might be some good ones over there too.

There was a rack at the Storm/Roto booth that also contained some AMF balls for $100 drilled.  Some of the balls on the rack were the AMF Code, Roto Odyssey, Roto Quest, and Roto Venus.

There were some good deals at the Ebonite/K&K booth, including the Track Rising for $119 drilled, Tantrum for $129 drilled, and Rising-SE or the UpRising for $170 drilled.  Also, Brunswick had some good prices on discontinued balls such as the Ultra Zone and Smash Zone.

When I was out for the USBC Masters, the only 16lbs they had were AMF Nighthawks. But it may have changed since then.

I don't remember if the Odyssey was available in 16#, but I do remember seeing a 15#.  I don't think they can ship them, the ball was available for $100 drilled.

The Storm Hy-Road was $179, if I remember correctly.

I bought a HyRoad at the Storm booth on 4-28 and it was $179, but after the adders for a thumb slug and lifts it was around $220... not much different than the cost from my driller at home.

It all depends on the guys at the booths.  I know the hammer booth will ship out balls for you...they just give them to the Bowling Ball Exchange.  We had a case of the overseas Bites shipped to us and will probably get some more.

I wouldn't go that far. I was referring to the exclusive in all their shops.
Maybe my info is flawed. Anyway, was just inquiring.
No big deal.

I think K&K was hired to man the Ebonite booth this year, including Columbia and Track. But in their own proshops, like any good proshop they carry all brands of equipment to suit their clients. Nothing wrong with that, and I wouldn't expect otherwise. No Proshop worth their salt would only carry one brand/manufacturer.

I think some of the posts, like the used car salesman comment, are more then a bit uncalled for.

So, Ebonite owns the Booth? Can I still get Turbo products there?
Do you have cards from last year or previous years?
For example, if J.J. walked in and said, drill me a ball from my
record wining performance in Reno. Can you do still do that?
No big deal, just wondering.
If the Eight Ball Team said, drill balls with the same specs, can you still do that?
I will be there on Memorial Weekend, We always have ball drilled just for the tournament.

Now this is good business. Running the Ebonite booth and then trying to keep people from spending money in the other companies booth's on top of it. Talk about a good location.

But you hijacked the post asking about the Storm/Roto booth. I think the used car salesman comments were spot on... Knowing the costs of running a booth out there I know how tempting it is to do this and try to drum up as much business as possible but it's pretty sad when you post something like this.. How would you feel if an online retailer or Doug Heim for that matter had a mobile proshop and sold Ebonite International products for cost. Pretty close to the same thing..

Business is business but I just thik this is a shady deal here.

Just my opinion....

i agree with Beans I actually met him last year in the Lane botth and found him to be a stand up guy with morals in business.  I was just checking to see if there were any discontinued deals or things of that nature in the storm/roto booth.  I will never have a ball drilled there again after the guy from the ebonite booth missed my span by 1/4 on each finger

Beans-- You try to get business off this site.  How is that any different?
They are businessmen, trying to make the most money that they can.  There
is nothing wrong with that.  They are merely taking advantage of their
locations in relation to the tournament this year.  It is a unique opportunity.

I stated the same thing you speak of.

I agree with the location being an advantage...

I was upset about the hijacked post...
