Title: T Shirts at the Open
Post by: Bill Thomas on June 18, 2010, 11:53:02 PM
Anyone else see the picture of Matt Cannizaro's USBC Open team?  If those aren't T shirts I don't know what a T shirt is.  They sure are not mock necks.  I know someone will point out that the shirts have logos but they are not all the same.  In fact one of the shirts appears to be a V neck.  Its not a big deal but you would think Matt, being the USBC spokesperson, would have been more cautious about what his team wore so as to avoid any possibility of controversy.

As long as you wear slacks, you can pretty much get away with most shirts. One of my teammates had jeans on and they told him he had to wear a collared shirt or he was not bowling. We all had the same shirt (mock) but he was the only one
in jeans.

Rules only apply to those without big names or resumes.  Life in general works this way, why should bowling be any different.  We field 6 - 8 teams every year and during the team event, there is a team collared polo shirt and black trousers.  If anyone doesn't like it, they can always bowl with someone else.

In his blog, he calls them "Ebonite Collarless Dress Shirts" and according to the rules you are allowed to wear "mock collared or collarless dress shirts"

From the feedback I've received over the years, USBC seems to really care as to whether the fabric is a "true" tshirt or a performance fabric.

I've also been told that "if the whole team has the same shirt, tshirts are ok" - BUT I know that's not always true.

I think it just depends on who's checking you in - on the borderline cases.

I know that the two teams we're sponsoring are wearing collared shirts for everything.

LOL

Bowler's Edge Pro Shop is leading team event.
Wearing mocknecks.
Kenny Kempf(good friend of mine) is a member of that team.
Unfortunately he forgot the mockneck/slacks rule.
That's why he is wearing a Motiv pullover over his mockneck.

We bowled team event last night. Team to the right of us had two guys in mock shirts, the other three in collared shirts. Same with a team to the left.
