team practice on showcase lanes
« on: June 20, 2013, 05:39:51 PM »
Me and my team are bowling Monday night. We have decided this year to do the 1 hour practice on the Showcase lanes. My question is that for the people who have done this, how close did they play from the Showcase to the stadium lanes. Also how close is the BJ playing. Thanks for all assistance.

The first day I bowled the BJ on the fresh it was super tight with a huge OB.  I bowled it a 2nd time another day on the fresh and it was much more open.  It played exactly like the 2nd day did when I bowled Minors.  Not sure what happened that first day I bowled.

When we bowled the BJ--they back-end was much tighter than in minors.  Actually could find some hold down the lane at the BJ, but no hold at all in minors for us.

Most of my team felt the showcase lanes were a little slicker.  I thought they were pretty close.  It was odd that when my ball came back on the ball return at the showcase lanes, they were covered in oil.  It wasn't as bad at the stadium.  Some guys on my team even bought new towels because there was so much oil on their bowling balls.  Makes me wonder if they use different oil upstars and downstairs, but that is probably a reach.   If you are working with Matt, don't plan on much on lane practice.  We had less than 15 minutes, and others I talked to said the same.

I didn't bowl the bowlers journal, so I have no input.

For our group, the showcase lanes had atleast 2-4 boards less backend than upstairs.  The front end and breakpoint play very close but the backend difference was very noticeable for our group.

Showcase lanes are cleaner through the front, sharper downlane.  Its a fresh surface.  The Stadium has a pretty well defined track and years of beatings thus, the ball doesn't get through the heads as well and labors a little more on the backend.  Most people claimed to have the showcase lanes about 2-3 boards stronger downlane.

The BJ was tight tight tight on the fresh.  Probably due to the fact that it's at the end of the house and probably the least used end of the house in the whole place.  Otherwise, I have no good advice on the matter because I averaged about 150 down there and 211 in the tournament.

As usual in bowling, every bowler has different view of the same lanes!
