« on: February 18, 2010, 04:03:34 PM »
Hello future bowlers of the 2010 USBC Open in Reno. We at the Hammer Booth just wanted to take this opportunity to extend our knowledge and customer service to anyone who may need or want it. We will frequently be on here to answer any questions as well as provide information as to what seems to be rolling good on the lanes. With that said, feel free to send me a PM or post on here to ask anything that we may not answer or comment on.

This year we will also have a Facebook page where we will be posting pictures, upcoming sales as well as scores from some of our bowlers. Feel free to add us, you can find us under The Hammer Booth on Facebook or follow this link:

Still have a few of the Red Jacked's left if anyone is still looking for them. They are going fast and will most likely be gone by the end of this month.

Witnessed some good bowling as of late. Last night watched a team take the lead. They shot 3200 using balls that just laid off and didn't overreact in the back (3 missions were being used). They started out playing the lanes really straight burning up a spot and came out the gate with 1120.

Also the doubles lead was taken over at 1421. The two of them picked up our Jacked/Psycho combo to help propel them to the lead.

There are some great scores being posted and I'm sure many more to come.

Question Hammer Booth,

What do you guys consider a smooth reacting layout?  For a right hander would it be like drilling a ball with the pin up and to the right of the ring finger like maybe 2 inches away from the fingers and then the mass bias to the left of the thumb hole?  I know it depends on your PAP.  But would that be a generally the idea?  My PAP is 5 1/2 inches to the right and 3/4 up.  Don't know if that might help a little.  Do you guys recommend using an asymmetrical ball or symmetrical?

That would be what we consider a smoother reacting ball. We actually have been doing that layout for people with a little more hand and has been working out really well on the team event. In our line the asymmetric balls (Widow Series) tend to have a little more pop in the back so they have been working pretty good when the fronts start to go. The Jacked has been rolling really good on the fresh for people with some hand as long as you have some surface on it. So if you were to drill up a couple balls might want to go with the Jacked, Sting and Nasty just to give yourself some options. Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions just let us know. We will be more than glad to help you

Hammer Booth,

Thanks for the help.  You said in your reply to make sure you have some surface.  For the jacked I know the oob is 1000 grit factory finish...would that be good or should it go down to like 500 grit abralon?  I have about a 375 - 400 rev rate when I went to kegel.  High track player.

Also what inch pin do you recommend?  2 inch pin or 3 inch pin?  Not pin to pap but the length of the pin.

Also...I've been seeing some other reviews of the lanes and there are quite a few players using layouts with the pin down and mass bias at 65-80 degrees...how is this compared to drilling something pin up and out and mass bias left of thumb hole?

1000 should be plenty dull enough for you if you get on it that much and are pretty up the back. Pin down will get it to start up a little earlier is all. This would be another option for balls that have a little more pop in the back (something pearl). Only thing with the pin down is when you start having to move in they pretty much have to go right back in the bag.

Hammer Booth,
Was thinking of bringing a black widow bite and a cherry vibe because we bowl minors at 11:40 am,and picking up another ball from you when I get there at the end of April.High track player with med revs 14 to 15mph.How does this sound or do you think the vibe will be 2 weak?
Thanks Tim

Tim,

We do not think the Cherry will be too weak, there is always less oil during s/d and having that shift you will definitely see more friction because at best it will be second shift, but will most likely be 3rd shift. What ball are you thinking about getting when you get out here?

Ray,

I'm not exactly sure how to answer this, but I'm going to give it a go lol. I measured from the shoulder to the bottom of the shirt and it is roughly 28-30 inches. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions just let me know
