Back from ABC'S
« on: April 02, 2004, 01:21:40 AM »
I bowled the abc's this past weekend. They were tough as advertised, plus I didn't bowl very well on top of the tough conditions.
I shot 549 in team
       526 in Doubles
       630 in Singles
      1705 = all events.

I will answer any questions on the lanes, equipment, places to eat etc.etc.
just post a reply and I will send you a reply.  I dont have a lot time or I would write a book on the weekend.

Would you say it was more difficult to get to the hole or more difficult to carry once you got to the hole?  Did you make a change in game plan to improve your scores for the singles event?

Thanks

I would say that team event was a little on the tighter side compared to S/D.
I played around 20-25 in the heads to about 12-13 at breakpoint. My problem was that the heads dried up pretty quick and I couldn't get the ball to hit on the backend because of the ball using up to much energy early, plus that the fact we crossed with a team of bowlers that all played pretty straight down 10-14 and with non aggressive equipment that pushed the oil down to where my breakpoint was... I didn't have a pin above drilling with me which I think would of helped.
what I did to help my ball reaction was, I pulled out a sling blade with a stacked drilling under my bridge and lofted the heads and softened up my release and had a good reaction. I just missed too many spares or I would have scored better.
the carry was weird with the twister pins the high hits didn't carry very well. and the light hits carried better.
The key to me was that you had to be pretty consistent with your speed and release to get a good ball reaction...  I hope this helps..

Hi Hammertime.
Did you bring or use or see used by others any particle balls?
How did they react? Thanks for any post.

If I was going to bowl on this condition again I woould make sure that I had a particle pearl or a resin ball with a pin up. Depending on your rev rate and axis tilt, mine is around 400 rpms and my tilt is 8-10 degrees. which the tilt is what got me in a little trouble.
Everyone at the booths said that they didn't see anyone scoring consistently by playing outside of 10.

As far as food went we really liked the meal at Cal nevada it was excellent. Also the food at the Peppermill was expensive but the prime rib was really good.
I would recommend for no one to eat at Mels Diner at the Sands the food was awful and even the waiter complained about the service and was short handed.
Also Tony Romas was good and the service was a little slow but it was worth the wait.

The gambling seemed to be bad for me, but we thought that the peppermill by far was the best casino. The gambling, appearance, waitress and the food was great.

Fitzgeralds was decent on the tables.
The weather was nice all week also except a couple of days the wind was up around 20-30 mph..

Overall a good trip and would of like to bowled better of course...

I am thinking of a 4.5 inch pin above fingers rad left of thumb Reload for Team and start with in doubles, and single and 1 inch pin on a pearl charge mb on Pal.  If I was to drill a ball up out there, what would it be and how would i drill it. I have a ball speed around 17-18 mphs.  med high rev rate, with clean release, and axis tilt of 30 to 45 degrees.

Been able to hit the pocket every year I went, real close to breakin out a big score. Mostly 550 to 630.  Average 192 at Nationals for 8 years.
