Don't know if this will help anyone out, but here is my take on the USBC in Corpus Christi...Scott

Shot fairly well but missed some easy spares that really cost me shooting very good.

Team event (8:30) --  talked to many who said that you could float from 17 to 12 in team and have a good shot.  I never found that to be the case.  I started there but it was really easy to miss out and not get back or to miss in and see the ball go through the nose.  Began with a polished Hawg Wild.  Struggled to an opening 179 game.  Decided to move left and was playing 22 to 17 at the arrows out to about 14 at the break point and switched to my Raw Doom.  Kept me close the rest of the night with games of 204-207 for a 590.  The third game I kept transitioning left till I finished about 25 to 19 to 16.

Doubles event (5:30)  --  Decided to start where I finished up in team event with my Raw Doom.  Playing 25 to 19 to 16.  The shot stayed pretty well until the middle of game three.  Then, I was forced further left and carry became a real issue for me.  Had a clean 30 going until the sixth frame of the third game when I missed an easy single pin spare, followed by a chop of the 3-6.  Shot games of 205-236-171 = 612

Singles event (6:35)  --  Moved to 1 & 2 for singles and stayed deep but it became obvious that I simply wasn’t going to carry from there.  After a wash out and then several good breaks which should have/could have been splits, I decided to try something different.  I moved out to the ditch and switched to my EXP-T1 and went up the first arrow.  Could not hardly miss the pocket but 7 pins and 10 pins were hard to knock out.  Stayed clean and shot games of 189-225-214 = 628

1830 All Events.  Not great, but not terrible either.  Did not have any issues with the approaches.  Ebonite was the only booth with any real deals.  They had some of their close outs for pretty decent prices (Fire, Show Time Pearl, Puma, Game Time, Nitro r2).  

If you are going to be in an out of the convention center much at all, buy the $10 Four Day Parking Pass.  Convenient and cheaper than the daily or hourly parking.

Corpus Christi could afford to spend a little money on signage.  Getting around the town wasn’t the easiest thing to do and construction at their major roads intersection made traveling around on the South/southwest side of town confusing at best.

On of the locals made a recommendation of a good place for steak.  Our team decided to give it a try.  It was excellent.  Lonestar Steak and Ale was the place.  Great steak and service.  Doesn’t look like much on the outside, but really worthwhile inside.
