Hoover Dam
« on: March 26, 2009, 03:53:52 AM »
We took a trip to Hoover Dam it is sure dam impressive and highly recommended!

We did the $30 tour and all four of us thought it was well worth it.  My advice is to go in the morning before traffic picks upbut it's only about 40-45 minutes from LV around Henderson and real easy to drive.

How long did the dam tour take?  I won't be out there for more than 50 hrs and i was hoping to see Hoover Dam.

The tour itself takes about an hour but it one of those deals where you are assigned a tour time.  We showed up at around 11 and got a 12:30 tour entry time.  I would check on line to see if you can get an entry time in advance.

On the Hoover Dam tour, is there a lot of walking and/or stair climbing?  One member of our party could have problems if there is.

it is a dam good tour is def worth the time money.
there is a decent amount of stairs to walk in places, but am sure can use the elevators if it is too much.

how is the bridge coming along that will replace the dam, i cant wait to go back and be able to drive over it and be above the dam will be a great view.

Most of the tour is elevators so it shouldn't be a problem  The new bridge is awesome looking and 25% completed over the gorge.  I would like to see people working on that one.  The tour guide said the broidge is 21 months over schedule as I heard they had some problems with the support structure.  It should be an fantastic view of the dam when completed.

The construction company is the same one that did the "Big Dig" in Boston. We all know how that one turned out.

The DAM tour is awesome. Just make sure you listen to the DAM tour guide, dont jump in the DAM elevator, and visit the DAM gift shop before leaving.
