Sent 4 balls from Wisconsin.  The base fee was $55 and with a declared value of $1000 there was a $5 insurance charge added.  So it ended up being $60 each way.  Well worth not having to deal with the hassle of take them on the plane.    

al_g is correct, shipments are automatically insured for up to $500, anything with a declared value over $500 will be charged extra insurance.  I believe the it costs $1 per every extra $100 insured.
