USBC tourney rules
« on: November 28, 2008, 01:01:38 PM »
Can I bring a small hand truck (Magna cart) to transport more two double ball bags to the lanes. I have only one wheeled bag and think it would be easier to get them to the lanes on one of these. I did have someone tell me they aren't allowed. Is that true? If anybody has knowledge on this I would appreciate it.

Prior to last year you could use a cart, but when we bowled in New Mexico they would let them go past where balls get checked.  I check and yes it is a rule they have now.

Here is what Rule 10 for the tournament says:

10. EQUIPMENT
Bowling Bags
No “homemade” or “modified” bowling ball carrying equipment is allowed to be used.
The tournament Manager on Duty will handle any questionable circumstances.

Since te handtruck is not manufactured as bowling equipment, I suspect that it may be forbidden.  I really don't see the need for it anyway.  In the past,I have taken 8 balls a 4-ball roller, and two 2-ball totes.  I put one tote on top of the roller and carry the other one, so I really don't see the need for any additional carts.

Here's an excerpt from the USBC OPEN Rules:

10. EQUIPMENT
Bowling Bags:
No “homemade” or “modified” bowling ball carrying equipment is allowed to be used.
The Tournament Manager on Duty will handle any questionable circumstances.

You might want to contact Matt Cannizzaro via www.bowl.com on the USBC discussion forum for the USBC OPEN(I don't have his email address readily available).

cgilyeat,

I appreciate your response but I think your exactly what the rule was made for. Matt Canizzaro told me what the rule is and he said it was was to keep a classy and professional look. (His words) I would think two double ball bags on a brand new small hand truck that looks very similar to real two bag carriers would look every bit as good or better than a guy juggling a two ball tote on top of a four ball carrier with another two ball tote hanging on his shoulder.
