Using BBE
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:32:21 AM »
How does one figure the cost of shipping 4 balls using BBE if they don't go for 2 months?

It would be in your best interest to contact the hotel you are staying and ask them if they recieve packages for incoming guests, and ship it to the hotel, while purchasing your postage there also purchase a return postage and ask them to ship them home for you.

I've done this in the past and most hotels will call UPS ( or FedEx) for your pick-up

Just fill out the name, address, and the other stuff like you were actually going to ship them now, then put in a date about 10 days from now. It's probably around 18 bucks a ball from the east coast from what I saw.

I did what you said and found out it would be around $72 each way for 4 balls with a weight of 65#. I can see why everyone is b--ching about the cost using BBE now.

factor in how much it cost for extra baggage on the airline you are traveling with and compare..in some cases it's cheaper to check in your bags on the airplane and in some cases it's cheaper to use BBE

I don't think it's that bad. You have to remember that your equipment will already be at the Cashman Center, thus eliminating carrying them around through the airport, to the car, through the hotel to your room, and then to the arena. I for one will use it simply for the convenience of the service and the knowing that they are insured for the duration of the trip.

Each person has to weigh thier own circumstances and decide for themselves, there is no right or wrong way to get your bowling balls there.

I just compared the prices for shipping via BBE and doing just UPS to hotel and the prices were just $5 more to use BBE.  Not that much of a difference ($77 for BBE vs $72 UPS).  Anyone else see this?

If its only $5 more then I will use it, but I have a fedex account and cant get a quote yet for some silly reason. I have used BBE in the past and thought it was great, but the cost of an airplane ticket is a little expensive to me.

My air is $229, my ball shipping would be $144? I weigh alot more than 4 balls.

I just did a Fedex ship with the same exact info I put in the UPS site and it came to $54 each way shipped with the same insurance. So unless my math is really bad, its $36 more to use BBE.

Now I know some will say its worth the extra $36 to have ones stuff sitting there waiting and not have to haul it around. I will have to decide that when the time comes.

One other thing to consider is whether or not you will be doing any other bowling while in Vegas.  Either practice or other tournaments.  Having the balls delivered to your hotel may be more convenient in that case.

It's going to cost me $40-50 to bring my on the plane, BBE was $73.. Multiply that x2 and I'm saving $46-66 by NOT using BBE...
