my two cents from vegas
« on: April 04, 2009, 02:01:48 PM »
ok here goes my take on nationals

we bowled the team squad on tuesday night at 830, we got lucky and bowled unopposed as there was just us on the pair, the bad part was we had to bowl one side before switching to the other side for practice IE bowler 5 had to bowl on lane 55 before leadoff bowler could go on 56 which to me seemed like a disadvantage as the lanes with two teams actually threw more balls on their pair then we got to, thus we didnt get to break the lane down like we wanted

Anyway start game one in team with 6 consecutive spares then a split then another spare then a strike finally, only to throw a split in the tenth to shoot 165
second game more of the threw the ball well one open thru 9 with 4 strikes and 4 spares then disaster in the tenth with another open 169 game
game 3 was an 8 strike game with 2 spares and one open to shoot 230 for a 564 set

i shot team with a dynamo drilled pin in ring cg stacked surface at 2k abralon played 15 to ten the whole set, ball held well, one thing i saw was the softer backs made spare shooting easier for me

next night we shot minors at 1130 (new singles leader came from our squad)
we had golfed 27 holes in the morning chilly windy morning lol

in doubles i started where i left off shot 199 out of the gate with one open 6 strike game open in the 5th with a nice 1-2-4-10 leave (for the record left this leave 4 times and converted 3 times)
next game was very similar to the first 198 with a 4 strike game and one open, a missed ten pin, the only one i missed
last game of doubles go 182 5 strikes but 3 opens to do me in  578 set

singles i am starting to lose my look that i had moving around trying different stuff, went to teh AO but everything was early, still trying to play that 15-8 line game 1 i stink it up with three opens and shoot 161 2 stike game
game two i start with the chainsaw playing 15-7 with it one open shoot 190 5 strike game

last game i saw something interesting in the tenth of the last game so i break out the dynamo and move left big time. play 20-10 and go 230 with 5 strikes and the rest spares to shoot 581 in singles

shot 1723 all events which for me i will take  did myself in in brackets and lost 115.00  but made up for that in slot winnings (dont let anyone fool you you can win on penny slots lol)

all in all found the shot to be very good even shot, the backs were softer then i had seen in the last five years made spare shooting a ton easier but strikes for me were harder to come by i ended up with 13 opens over the 9 games with 10 of them being splits

we golfed at paiute golf resort, played the wolf course a little pricey 229 for all day play with a cart, lunch and club rental, a very top notch club and highly recommended tough but fair take plenty of balls, seems like the wind blows continually

highlight of the trip  we were on the strip checking out the "worlds largest gift shop" when a couple we were there with walked over to the beer store to stock up when a guy in a porsche pulls up and offers tickets to a show says he works for Ceasars and says his job is to fill the forum and offers up 4 tickets so they take them come and get us and away we go to see Bette Midler lol  was a fantastic show, not just Bette but showgirls and lots of jokes, she did her Delores Delgato character and her Sophie character, funny foul mouthed at times, great show we all loved it and our seats, our free seats, orchestra section right side of stage, i probably could have grabbed a showgirl we were so close was very good show

PS  my wonderful lovely fiance says hi to everyone, this was her first trip to nationals and had a blast with us

I've found at Nationals that, because of the way the pattern breaks down, a BIG move into fresh oil with a more aggresive ball is the way to go rather than a small adjustment playing the same area..

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

agreed and normally that is my move (i did the last game) but the track area played well the whole time, and i didnt get into too much trouble so i was bull headed and stuck with it, the big move would have paid off the whole time i think

Trigger,
Thanks for taking the time to post.

Quck question, you menationed throwing the Dynamo at 2K abralon for team, did you use this for doubles and singles too, or did you switch to something else? Thanks.

pretty exclusive the whole 9 games our pair on singles was used up so i played with the AO and then the chainsaw some, before moving left big time and going back to the dynamo

I think that deep shot with the dynamo was there for me the whole singles set and i did not go after it
