Your First ABC experience.
« on: February 18, 2004, 05:04:07 PM »
I am about to leave for my first ever ABC Nationals and I would love to hear about everyone elses first experience.  I am very excited, but very nervous.  How did all of you deal with the excitement and nervousness.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.

It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Shot a 351 in singles.  Lowest 3 game set of my life.  If I got it outside of 5 it slid into gutter inside of 10 guttter to the left.  The best thing is it was videotaped and for the next 5 years we would put it on and have a hoot.  By the way the video is put away under "Comedy".

Mine is exactly 2 weeks away..  From this point in time..  2:15 p.m. pst..  I will have my Dexter's on, my balls will be in the return and I will be testing my slide for the first time ever at the ABC Nationals in Reno April 8th at 1430 local..  Am I nervous, yes, and no..  I stopped by last week on my way to Lake Tahoe and checked the place out..  The continuous humm that goes on may get to be a little annoying..  But the shot didn't look too tough..  hahaha.. Just wait til I throw my first ball..  How much for those 16 oz plastic bottles of Miller Lite??   Can't wait to play some blackjack too..  and the 40framer too..  how many brackets should I get in?  Craps..

Reno 6 yrs ago was my first time and this year was my first in 3 yrs. Only way to relax is to take a few deep breaths and think that you are bowling at home. The walk down the center for the fist time well ok every time for me has been AWSOME. No words for me can describe the feeling of walking down the center for team event and then to have the Anthem played with everything on the scoreboards. Just remember everything as they happen and enjoy and best of luck.
