. ..Designed with the extreme oil patterns in mind, the Centaur-AMB Particle will chew through the oil like it's not even there. Using the high flaring AMB core design in combination with our new high load particle coverstock, this ball will hook when nothing else will. If you are in need of a heavy oil ball, than look no further. You will not find more raw power in a ball anywhere.

Started practice throwing my Bronze AMB 25 out to 15, with a nice angular break around 50 feet or so.  Initially tried throwing the Particle about 28 (with the intention of getting it out to about 12), however at about 30 feet it made a left turn and took off the 7 pin, no joke.  Through moving I progressed to take out the 4 pin, then 2 pin, then crossed over.  Proceeded the to change the surface to 600 wet sand, which got a little more length.

I have not thrown this ball in competition yet, but we have been practicing on a nationals shot in preperation for slots next week.  I did find that the OB that exists from about 8 on out was a perfect shot for the Particle.  When I arrived none of the other four teammates - all with more hand than me - could bring anything back from outside of 8.  The particle set up nicely however throwing 12 out to about 7.

This line did start to burn up fairly quickly, which I was able to abjust for by taking some hand off of the ball.  It probably lasted about a game and a half, after which my Frankie set up nicely in almost the same track.  The Frankie is at 1000 matte - 400 was just too aggressive for the conditions I have seen.

The Particle is drilled up strong - Pin placement C (just right and above the ring finger) and a VMB of 3 (Low and right of the thumb)

With the coverstock, it is an even, though aggressive move - nothing like the Bronze...

Ball Specs:
16 pounds, 3 1/2 inch pin, 3.1 ounces of top weight.

Layout:
Pin 5 inches from PAP, MB 5 1/2 from PAP, Pin 3 1/2 inches above midline, Pin according to drill sheet is in the B position and MB is in the # 2 position

My specs:
Ball speed 17 mph, high rev rate (540 rpms), PAP 5 1/2 x 0 (high track)

Lane conditions:
Top hat 38 feet buff to 42

This ball is one monster that is tough to tame.  Out of the box, on lanes freshly oiled, I could not throw it.  I compared this ball to the green/blue Centaur.  I threw the Centaur 13 at the arrows with a breakpoint around 7 and the ball had a nice, controlled move to the pocket and hit dead flush.  I pulled out the AMB Particle, moved into 20 at the arrows, the ball never got right of 15 and hit the 4-7 dead in the face.  I quickly walked it back to the pro shop, hit it with 1000 abralon and used Magic Shine over it.  THIS BALL DOES NOT POLISH EASILY!!!!  I tried the same line and the ball still hit the 2-4 in the face.  Back to the pro shop I went where ball was on the spinner for 5 minutes while I tried to add more polish to it.  I go back out to the lanes where in order to hit the pocket, I stood around 60, lofted the first 2-3 feet of the gutter, FINALLY got the ball to push out to 7 at the breakpoint.  My result.....stuff 9 pin.  For a ball to roll that fast and still have a big backend reaction and hitting power....very impressed.  However......this may be too much ball for a high rev player unless you throw it 19-20 mph on EXTREME heavy oil.  This ball is incredible for those who are strokers to tweeners on heavier oil patterns where balls such as the Ultimate Inferno or Rule GP2 may not be enough.

Love it. Got it drilled by Brad Cerealo @ AMF Winston-Salem and went out on league pattern, ball burned up at about 30 ft. still hit like a mack truck burned out. Had the pleasure of getting to bowl on a 37ft. sport pattern later that evening. Ball worked great no burn out just pure hook and traction. When I had to play inside (15-20)with the Hammer Hawg I could play outside (1-8) with the AMB Particle.Could play areas where I couldn't with my other equipment.
Ball- 15lb. pin 1-2 top 3.0
Drill-Pin below fingers bridge.cg-about 2 O'clock
Style-18-20 mph,about 250-300 rpm, tweener

Well I dont know what to really say.  The first ball left hand gutter and then the next couple this ball is so strong its unbelievable.  I can not stress this enough.  If you are on a sport shot league that makes everything look like its plastic then this is the ball you must invest in.  This ball is laid out with the pin at 1 oclock and the virtual mass bias at 90 degrees.  Once enough oil was found to actually throw the ball it was very hard to stay in that spot for long because of how strong this ball was in box condition.  Overall the ball does exactly what it was meant to do.  But users beware you must have tons of oil if you have any hand in order to use this ball

all i can say is unless you are on a sport condition flood you will not find a place to use this ball. drilled pin over center of bridge, cg in center of grip mb directly below thumb. i even used rough buff on surface to give alittle more distance but it would just burn up on my ths. so if you are lacking hand or bowling on a true flood this ball will give you the motion you are looking to make it to the pocket. ball is way to strong to use on any normal house shot but will be great for my up coming sport league.

First off let me say i am a speed dominant stroker, not that i throw all that fast ( 15.5-16.0mph at the pins ) but my revs are not real high. this ball is drilled pin above and to the right slightly of the ring finger ( right hander )and the cg is down 2.75" and very slightly swung in to the left. I bought this ball for the floods and just to see if it really will hook in oil, the price was real cheap so what the heck! I have read all the posts about balls hooking or not hooking in the oil, and now here is my take on it. This ball will absolutely hook IN THE OIL, not only after it but in it. I threw this monster on a just dressed synthetic flood that i usually can not get much to even move, i stood at right foot 20 threw out 13 and it started at my feet never made it past 10 and took out the 7 pin. I then took it to my usual house brand new synthetics with far less oil outside of 10 but quite a bit inside 10. I could not use it, but thats ok i really did not get it for this condition. I did take it to the otis pillow pro shop and had mike take it up to 4000 abrelon and apply some polish, this tamed the ball down a lot, it is still very strong but it now starts up much later and is useable in the league condition, first game in practice fresh condition 228 with the front 3 being splits not bad. So to some it up i like this ball for my style and it will be able to handle ANY heavy oil condition i will face with the proper surface prep.

Yes it hooks, a lot! Drilled this over the label with the 3" pin above and just right of ring finger. This drill gives me static weights of 3/4 finger and 7/8 + side, top weight after drilling is 2 ozs. With drilling on flooded synthetics, it looked just like a yellow dot during the late 70's. On flooded wood lanes it reads a little earlier and turns less sharply. I can ply my "A", "B", or "C" games. This ball cuts through the heaviest oil with great strength. I can't imagine a condition that would allow you to play this ball more than about 2 games. By then the lanes have dried up enough that you need to switch balls. If you get to bowl on a flood, this is the ball for you!

The AMB Particle is just a hook monster!! I have thrown this ball a few times and it needs oil, but it is great for what is designed to do!! If you are looking for a ball when there is alot of oil, here is your ball!

Axis 5 3/8 x 1 up
High Ball Speed
High Rev Rate

Layout ~

Surface ~ First few times I threw it, I left it out of the box. I decided to polish it to see what it does and it still hooks!

Higher Rev Rate

I'm 58 years old I need all the help I can get from a bowling ball
This bad boy i drilled up pin 1 1/2 inches from ring finger
sung center of gravity out so the imaginary bomb would be out near my VAL...
approximately 1/2 to 1 inch from VAL...
the first time i thru this ball i tunged it put it out around 10 to 12 board
on my side which is left handed and i barely caught the 6 / 10
The next time I thru it i stood near the last dot on the approch thru between
the 3 and 4 arrow out to gutter and bamm,  back to the pocket cleared the deck
and hit like a MACK Truck !!!
The good thing about this ball it moves alot so you need alot of oil to play
with maybe a sports condition.  Mine i sanded to 800 to 1000 abralon and ploished it and it still moved alot for me...
Ball Speed 14 to 15 mph
Top weight 3 oz.     -     pin 3"   this is a ball that would be great for
sports conditions...
When Visionary said Extreamely Heavy oil I believe thats exactly where it
should be used.
House shots would be hard to use this ball if its drilled for max Potential

Ithru Vionary balls about 8 to 10 years ago and they were great then
but now they are fantastic additions to the game of bowling...

This is great on heavy oiled lanes. I buffed mine up to 800 grit and used it on sports pattern. I couldn't complete the first game because it hooked so much. I was able to play very deep and the ball recovered with alot of pop left. The ball was drilled for max hook and early roll. Visionary has done a great job with this one.

I was looking for an oil ball.  This ball makes you think twice for what you ask for.  It exceed my expectations for its ability to handle for oil.

Me: slower speed, but rev rate matches my speed.  If I throw harder, I become speed dominate and it cuts the overall hook by 5 boards.  PAP 5 over .5 up.  Ball drilled with the pin right of the ring finger, AMB about 2 inches right of thumb.  Large and deep balance hole in the lower thumb quadrant.

Throwing slow, on a longer fresh house shot, I used medium equipment up the 8 board.  With stronger equipment, I swing 12 out to 9/10. Before the first ball with the AMB I moved 5 and 2 left.  Looking to hit about 14 at the arrows. The AMB started to hook just past the arrow. Missed the head pin and hit the 2 pin solid.  Ended up next to the ball return over the 20 with speed.  Playing the same line with my stronger equipment, I picked up the 10 pin.  The AMB still carrys even crossing that many boards.  After pushing oil all over the place, my medium equipment would barely move playing a sharp angle 7/8 toward the pocket with speed.  Using the AMB I moved 10 right and did a slight swing on the 8--flush.

The ball has it uses.  It is a keeper.  If I would do it again, I would drill it to skid flip.  With that drilling, I think I would get a little more length and a little stronger arc into the pocket.  But no way would it skid flip.
