Description:
The new dual-toned G-3 Gryphon takes the Gryphon II core used in the Burgundy Particle Gryphon and encases it with our new pearlized G-3 coverstock to create a ball that will get through the heads with ease, and retain it's energy for a very strong backend reaction.

This ball was designed for most medium conditions and has a true skid-snap reaction. As is the case for most pearlized reactives, the G-3 Gryphon produces the strongest reaction on fresh backends, but with the lower RG and higher differential (flare potential) it is able to get into a roll even with some carrydown.

Specifications:
Line Gryphon
Color Blue/Red
Coverstock Reactive Pearl
Core 2-piece
RG 2.497
Differential 0.056
Factory finish 1500 Polish
Weights 10 thru 16lbs
Lane Conditions Medium Oil

Good med to dry ball.  Put a strong drill on it, and an a 3x3 axis hole.  Bowled with it on semi-oily synthetic lanes.  Great carry, and recovers with off shots.  Just wish it had a little more back end, otherwise great ball

Been rolling the ball for about 2 weeks. I got it drilled to go long and it does. I think the ball has really good backend. It is a true skid snap reaction. I find it a little hard to play inside. I have to get it out to about 5 and it comes screaming back.

Just drilled up the ball before going to tournament. Left it factory finished. Was told the tournament shot was the "house shot". Was able to go through the heads very cleanly and recover on the backend with unbelievable force. I was standing on the 35th board, sending it out to the 8th board. Though the entry angle was stronger than I am used to; there was a lot of pin activity in case of standing pins. Nine games rolled 1995 (High 258, low 193). I would strongly recommend this ball. In fact I had several ask where they could get this ball at the tournament.

This ball was drilled 5 x 4 1/2.  I use it primarily on a 37 ft. top hat pattern and when the lanes dry out.  The reaction has great skid through the heads and smooth reaction in the backend.

I have reviewed many balls in the past and you can check my stats in the profile.  I bowled on a synthetic lane condition oiled to 35 feet and buffed to 38 feet.  It is a heavy 80/20 blend oil.  I drilled this ball with a 3" pin above the ring finger with the CG kicked out.  I think this is a great ball when the backends are FRESH.  Give this ball some carry down and it squirts.  It can't generate a good read at all on carry down.  This is the 4th week I have had the ball.  I shot 299 with this ball during the second game of a league set this past week.  The third game I went washout, bucket x 3, moved one board right and went weak 10 x 2.  If you know when to hold this ball, and when to bag it, it would be an awesome ball for anyone.

I have a 15lb with a 3inch pin.  I drilled it with the pin above and in the middle of the fingers with the cg kicked out.  This ball gets through the heads nicely and has a powerful backend move.  This ball is Visionary's strongest backend ball.  The Green Gargoyle would be the next strongest.  The G-3 revs up faster and makes a stronger move.  I have been able to use this ball on both sythetic and wood lanes.  This is the first polished ball I have been able to use in a synthetic house that is soaked.  I would rate this ball a 10 out of 10 for medium to heavy conditions.  When the backends are too dry  this ball will jump and be hard to control.  The Blue Sparkle Gryphon works much better under those conditions.  I recommend the G-3 for many conditions as long as there is some oil.  You can swing it on medium conditions or play more direct when the oil is heavy.  Just put it in the bag when the backends are flying.

This ball is identical to the Blue Gryphon. I drilled pin next to ring cg stacked below. This ball goes to long but has a hard backend reaction. It just goes to long.
Medium revs
18-19mph
pap 5 1/2
just is to skid snappy

I drilled this ball 4x4 weight hole on pap. What can I say, this ball is the anti-Blue Sparkle Gryphon, While your wowing them and feeling like the Hulk your wallet is getting lighter. Bowlers will come from 40 lanes away to watch this ball and ask where can i gat one. I am going to drill another one with more of a controll drill and see how it works. This ball with this patten is not more super hard roll at the break and not really skid snap. I will review after more work with this ball and the next one.

Weight: 15lbs.
Drilling: 3 3/8 X 4 ½ (Label Leverage)
Surface: Box Surface

My Style: Right handed.  Higher track.  Medium to medium/fast ball speed.  Above average revs.

Length
The G-3 gets good length with its pearl reactive cover.  It’s almost as long as the Green Gargoyle, starting its turn a little sooner.

Ball Motion
With a low RG and high differential, the G-3 stores a ton of energy for the breakpoint.  Its path to the pocket is fairly straight but once it reaches the breakpoint, it wants to turn and turn now!  If the back ends are clean, it will snap very hard (hockey stick look).  I found it to react even harder than the Green Gargoyle.  With longer oil, it will move strong but not with the violent snap.

Lane Conditions
When conditions require an extra punch at the back just bring out the G-3.  Creating angle isn’t a problem with this ball.  Even with the pearl cover, the G-3 can handle light carry down.  Clean back ends create a “high risk, high reward” situation – either powerful strikes or big splits.  Haven’t really thrown the ball on heavy oil (not what its meant for).  On dry shots, with unlimited room for error to the outside, the G-3 works well with a lot of speed.

Hand Positions
The Gryphon responds well to changes in hand position.  With its high differential, staying behind the ball is a plus.  Coming around it too much causes it to break too hard.  The G-3 still provides plenty of punch if you have to take your hand out of the ball.

Overall
Like other Visionary balls I’ve tried, the G-3 carries very well.  I normally wouldn’t start out with this ball on a fresh shot (the Blue Sparkle Gryphon or the Green Gargoyle are better options).  But when oil starts creeping down and/or if I have to move deeper inside, the G-3 comes out of the bag.
Visionary's description of the G-3 is on the money.  It’s also a very good-looking ball with its red/blue dual tone.  I would recommend this ball to anyone it search of a powerful pearlized ball.

This is a 14# ball with a 2.5 inch pin and unknown top weight. The pin is just below and right of the ring finger (I'm right handed). The cg is near the grip line. It has a bit of finger and side weight. I picked this ball up already drilled but with no appreciable wear. I plugged and redrilled the fingers and polished the ball with control it.
I'm a no thumb bowler, and most balls hook too much for me. The G-3 is by no means weak, but it didn't over react on the backends like most balls do. The ball is super clean through the heads checks up in the midlane and arcs hard to the pocket. I leave very few ten pins with the ball. I do have a nine pin problem on flush hits. The ball hits very hard with very little deflection.
I like this ball. It reminds me of my Sonic X only stronger. You get length, control and hard hit. It is a tad early for me on fresh lanes. I like it best with a longer pattern or when the backends are less than crisp. This allows the ball to deflect a bit and carry the nine pin.
Overall this is a good fresh, medium lane ball for most. Clean through the heads, with good midlane control and a strong but controllable backend. This ball is not for the extremes, but is a ball worthy of consideration for first ball out of the bag for the medium handed. For me, its a good ball for long patterns or carry down.

Specs: 15#, top wt. 3.24, pin: 2-3", box 1500 polish surface

Layout: Pin under the middle finger, CG near thumb and slightly outside centerline of grip. no extra hole needed.

i love this ball....Very clean through the heads, gets through the midlane smooth, and then decides it wants to hunt down the pocket so it hooks right to it.  I dont see any over/under though. I can let this ball go and know what it's going to do when it gets near the pins.

Carry:
This ball hits wonderfully, nothing else I can say.

The G3 gives me good length with a strong reaction, but not quite as long and sharp as my Green Gargoyle. Where the Gargoyle gives me more skid-flip, this ball gives me skid-roll-hook.

Layed this ball out for playing the deep inside, replacing my super power pearl, to take advantage of the skid/snap coverstock. This ball really allows me to open up the lane and not have any worries about the ball not recovering. With the layout I used the ball really floats through the fronts and gets to the break point with loads of pop left. If someone is looking for a ball with a true skid/snap reaction look into this company you will be very surprised and happy that you did.

This is probibly one of the best balls for old school bowlers like myself that still throw donw the second arrow and need a ball that will finish on synthetics.  I drilled this ball the the pin at about 4 o'clock on the ring finger and the MassBios directly under the thumb at 6 o'clock... This ball carries SO WELL, and is very forgiving.

Ball Specs:
16lb
2 - 3" pin
drilled pin above ring finger cg stacked

I have been using this ball for about a year and can say that it is currently my favorite ball out of the bag. It clears the heads nicely with a profound, sharp move in the backend. Carry down doesn't seem to be an issue for this ball unless it is fairly heavy and even then you won't find it wiggling in the backend, it just might leave soem soft 10's.

The first condition that I tried it on was a house shot that is on the drier side. The ball got through the heads well and on the fresh shot it was tought to beat but as the night goes on and the lanes break down it can be a little too much ball. I started the night playing 20 to 5 or so.

The second conditon that I used it on was a longer heavier oil in a tournament. I was able to move right and play 10 to 5 and still have the ball make a strong move back to the pocket. In this case as the lanes broke down the ball just got better. I was able to start swinging the ball to the dry outside that was created from everyone playing up the right the first game and a half.

This is one of the best polished reactives that I have used and would recommend it to anyone that needs one for their arsenal. After having it for a year I can say that I have seen no ball death (I do clean it after every set) and it is still going as strong as when I bought it.
