BALL SPECS
Pin Length: 3-4"
Starting Top Weight: 3oz
Ball Weight: 15.4 LB
BOWLER STYLE
Handedness-Right
Rev Rate:550
Ball Speed:18 on monitor
Axis- about 20 degrees
PAP/Track:unsure, however, about 5" from grip center
DRILLING
Drilled pin in the middle finger with cg kicked underneath ring finer. Drilled this way to have a more even reaction and also due to my high rev rate, found that it's better to drill more "negative". In the past there have been balls I have "burnt" out due to drilling, too strong of ball/core, etc. Another factor of this is how I track.
SURFACE PREP
Grit: OOB 1500 polish
Type: (Matte, Polish, Sanded): Polished (pearl)
LANE CONDITION
Length: 39'
Volume: Unsure, however if it skids outside of ten it doesn't come back
Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): USBC white pattern, not sure of version
BALL REACTION
Length: Samurai glides through the heads effortlessly. You'll know what to expect as soon as it hits the lane. Starts to make the turn at about 35' on this pattern anyway.
Back End: Aggressive, but controllable. I know it sounds a little contradictory, but I feel that while aggressive, it's not overly snappy at the breakpoint. Similar reaction to my Hy-road pearl with pin directly under bridge and cg kicked right about 40 degrees. The SAMURAI has zero issues turning the corner on the back end.
Overall Hook: On this pattern I'm able to stand at 28-30 and 17-20 at the arrows. Depending on condition at the time. Ball will skid to about 10 then turn hard left. Can play further inside with some minor adjustments. (Reduce ball speed, change rotation)
Midlane Read: (referenced under back end section)
Breakpoint Shape: Only way I can describe is arch-snap. For me on this pattern, honestly it's the perfect shape and reaction. Will post video in near future. As previously stated, similar reaction to Hy-road pearl except my Samurai is stronger due to drilling.
COMMENTS
Likes: Absolutely everything. Carry, power, ability to handle carry down, consistency, shape, everything to include appearance. Good looking ball with a nice smooth looking sheen when polished/OOB.
Dislikes: None yet. Will update after having more experience with ball.
Visionary truly has some of the most amazing customer service I have experienced in my life. Always a pleasure speaking with Jason, who will take the time to talk to you on the phone/e-mail as well as educate. Truly inspirational. This is a drilling he recommended over the phone, having never seen me bowl. Everything was just based on specs I told him on the phone. Just give them a call, and I strongly feel that you'll agree. Also, I've been told website will be updated within weeks, if any further questions, just call and they will answer any and all that you may have. Keep in mind they are based in central time.
Thank you for reading, I hope it was informative. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to message me through this site. Have a good day.
