Title: 1500 oob surface
Post by: mab on November 28, 2010, 07:44:21 PM: What is the best way to resurface the Ogre pearl to get that oob reaction back. I have about 200 games on mine and it's long overdue.

Not sure there is something specific to resurfacing the balls though.

This is the part that would reference the Ogre Pearl or other 1500 US/CAMI polished Visionary equipment. ----> Polished balls go straight from the burgundy scotch brite pad into the industrial polishing machine which uses a buffing compound to bring it up to 1500 polish.

Scotch-Brite Nylon Pads burgundy is 320. Jason refers to a buffing compound that Visionary uses to bring the equipment to 1500 US/CAMI. The media (compound w/ abrasive), I use that I can get as close to a new Visionary polished ball is Storm Step #2. Now the amount of the media you use, along with amount of pressure, how fast the spinner is going and time in secs can be variable factors.

I'll add for me and the type of lane conditions I see on a regular basis which is BrunsAnvilane I like the OOB Visionary polished surface with a P3000 abralon pad scuff. If I was using a Visionary ball on older wood with more surface wear I might prefer the OOB surface.

1. 500-grit AbralonÂ® pad â€“ Sand for 15 seconds on all four sides.
2. Grey Scotch-Briteâ„¢ pad â€“ Sand for 40 seconds on all four sides.
3. StormÂ® Step Twoâ„¢ â€“ Polish lightly for 15 seconds on two sides."

I used Snake Oil instead of Step Two.

worked great.
