2 balls from visionary
« on: November 07, 2007, 12:03:08 AM »
Guys i throw the ball about 16mph on average, with medium revs.  I am right handed and bowl mainly in league.  On house is usually medium to medium heavy and the other is wood with light to medium oil.  Looking for two balls to cover these conditions.  ANy suggestions.

For the Lighter oiled house with the Wooden Lanes which tend to dry up quick I'd Suggest the Slate Blue Gargoyle Urethane should you have access to it.  Urethanes have been said to be designed for wooden lanes as they have increadible durable covers.  You wont have to worry about resurfacing the SBG for some time in comparison to all other reactives .

The only other ball that I currently have that I would use that would suit this is the Green Centaur, good ball and likes dry boards(use caution when drilling that is the downside as it could be a wonderfull ball or just a spare ball.

As far as the medium to heavy oiled house goodluck I'll let the others chime in.  On Edit - Perhaps a better option is get the Violet Gargoyle and if it goes too long or a bit too eratic on the back end or you see that it does not handle carrydown well I'd suggest bringing the cover from 1500 down to 800-1000 finish so that the ball is much smother but also much more powerfull in the oil.  I had a Violet very powerfull aggressive reactive cover but never had enough oil to use it, on the heavier conditions particularly medium to medium heavy this ball should be nice

You could probably drill 2 Frankie May's with different surfaces and set ups to cover both shots.

I have one drilled 4x5 and it can handle medium heavy at 1000 and have taken the same ball with a HIGH polish and used it on medium lighter, it cleared the heads easily and still had a nice controllable move.

I am toying with the idea to drill another with a weaker pin position and less surface to handle lighter mediums.
