Violet Gargoyle replacement
« on: January 12, 2009, 09:03:13 AM »
Which of the more recent releases (NB, Ogre, Gladiator) would be the closest replacement for a Violet Gargoyle?

I had one and loved the reaction...but it was 16lbs and I didn't feel comfortable making the switch between weights.

For me, that would be a tough one.  I haven't shot with the Ogre Solid, but I don't really see a replacement ball for that one to be honest.  If I were to go based on my use, I would have to say try the Gladiator Solid, but understand that it's going to be stronger than the Violet.

I would check with Jason at Visionary to see if they've got any 15lb for sale though, especially if you liked the ball!!

Gsback,

You know, I wonder if the Glad Pearl isn't a closer match to the stock Violet Gargoyle than a polished Glad Solid is. I just wonder. I have both (VG and GP) but I have a special drill on my Violet, so the two are not comparable at all.

My Violet Gargoyle falls in between the Gladiator Solid and Ogre Pearl if that helps any. Agree with G, call Visionary and see if they have some around in 15. They pop up on Ebay now and then as well.

It's a tough one....and I really hate to say that.  I don't think they really have anything that OOB that matches up with it...and it depends on how the other stuff is drilled.  I'd think that with the Glad Pearl may be a little more angular than a polished solid though....again...drill depending.

Now....if he wants to venture outside of the Visionary lineup and get his hands on some nice original Hammer Hi-Rev Offsets....then there's something that I've always found compares very favorably!!  And....I even happen to have some for sale!!
