Got one from Josh delivered today.  Drilling Sat.  Will follow up with review on BBV.  

Bought this ball to combat carry down that I am seeing this year on a suggestion from Jason on what ball he would recommend. We'll see.

I was actually gonna suggest this in one of the other threads but didn't want to go off. Topic, this is the ball that got me into VBP. Very hard arc off the back, but not snappy. This would be the hardest ball to describe the reaction for me. It gets through the front, but rolls hard off the dry. Approx a 3 3/4 X 5 1/2 drilling. Pin next to ring, AMB down and right of thumb.

I am going to drill it pin above fingers over bridge about a 5.25" pin to PAP for me and place "x" VMB at P3 or thereabouts.  My driller has a DeTerminator so we are going to spin it up before drilling.

Hard arc off the back but not snappy.  That's what I think Scott and I use to describe the reaction of the NB Reactive Pearl and the Particle Pearl.

Not your loop arc that you think of when you see the word 'arc'....but rather an that a motorcyclist takes when cutting a corner....much sharper.

This is a ball I might have to try again as well.  Had one that was used...but didn't throw it much.  I believe one of the ones notsohotshot has for sale is probably mine...the 3rd drill one.

Scott, waiting to hear your results patiently.

Tried the CE following huge poly play during open bowling Saturday morning and it just backed off in the carry down.  I am somewhat nervous because my Tuesday evening league follows a large amount of poly play as well.

Drilled 50* x 5 3/8" x 35*.  My PAP is 5" over and 0.

Ball specs.  15.20, 2.79 TW 3 1/2" pin.  We spun the ball first on my drillers DeTerminator and the "x" VMB was 3/8" off to the left (towards the thumb) of the 13 1/2" measurement from the AMB thru the CG to VMB.  We placed the VMB at P3.  No X hole yet.  Left it with 3/4 oz. pos. side. Drilled finger holes deeper to take out finger weight.  Used Vise IT.  Left it OOB 1500 polished.

Practiced with it on broken down left over condition from Sat. night couples on Sun. morning.  Also, fresh shot after they re-did the lanes Sun. morning.  1st generation Bruns Anvilane 14 years old.  THS 39'.  

On the broken down pair....played line 17-18 at arrows to 8.  No problem ball returning.  Carry better than anything else I tried.  Carry down made it wiggle on a few shots but the strength of the core seemed to make it return better than weaker balls.  If, I got it out past 8 around carry down worked fine.  Used off the side release for length and pop.

On fresh condition, played 13 at arrows and 8 nice reaction I'd call it a sharp arc.  Played more up the back of the ball to even out back end reaction. Got a little better reaction with pin down Solid Nomad and pin up Solid Gladiator in first game....as soon as I got some oil down lane then AMB - Bronze Centaur shined.

I think the Bronze will be a good 2nd ball out of the bag following a solid.  Layout gets length and hard sharp arc.  Nice continuation thru the pin deck.

I also think it will do great on older wood as they break down.

Scott or anyone, for this situation what is your take on the G3?

I think this is a reaction shape I need to fill as my YBP equipment is more on the rolly side...even my GG.

Anthony,

Your Greenie is rolly?  That is the one ball, I think most everyone will agree is the most skid/flip ball out there.  How is your equipment laid out?  

Is it your technique?  Maybe you are seeing what I do with amount of carry down....it seems the more and more bowlers I talk to this is the condition many are seeing as proprietors add more head oil volume especially in the middle this is pushed down quickly.  Also makes balls look more arcing/rolly when the ball makes a move toward pocket.

Of all the VBP equipment out there I would think the Greenie is the longest and sharpest off the spot.    

As far as the G-3, I haven't used mine in awhile as it's a 16.  Gets good length but lower Rg makes it a bit rolly/arc kind of reaction for me.  The AMB - Bronze Centaur is also kind of a arc like reaction can be bit allergic to carry down from what I saw last night in OOB 1500 polished.  Trying it at P4000 abralon surface tonite.

My GG has the most back end out of all my VBP equipment but it is still much rollier than I recall my original.

It is laid out something like:

-----O   O
----------P
-----------CG
-------O----X

It has a 4" pin and about 4oz of top weight hence my reasoning for a pin down layout.

My PAP is 5.6875" over and .5" up and I can vary my rotation to any degree, not sure of the tilt though.  My ball speed is anywhere near 15-17mph through the heads depending on the condition.  Rev rate also varies from low to above average but not high.

I can get the GG to have more flip but that requires me to release the ball in a manner I prefer not to reproduce much anymore.  It can cut through some carry down but backs off once as the volume transfers front to back.

The CE on the other hand is earlier and smoother and backs off period unless it has something to force it to turn up.

I haven't been facing terrible carrydown back ends are a little better than usual, can play a straighter shot 12 to 7 with low tilt and rotation without trouble.  But if I get inside that it's skid city and the racks are terrible there too so carry is pot luck.  

I think I figured it out last night though just wondering about the G3 because Ken has one available and could use a medium ball for that condition.

I think that's the key Anthony.  Moving in you'll need more axis rotation to create length and pop/movement off the spot.  Those with longer PAP's seem to have issues when this occurs.  I am 5" over and 0.  My "A" game release is average 60* axis rotation.  

Also the pin down layout on the Greenie IMO is going to have more of a rolly reaction even though it's surface will get length.  

You are kind of caught in between with your technique and the way the Greenie is laid out.

G-3 wouldn't be a bad pick up if Ken will sell at a reasonable price.
