B/G Centaur Layout

Guys, I do remember reading somewhere about being careful on the mass bias placement on this piece. I'll be drilling one up soon and was curious if someone could shed some light on that for me just so I have some info for my own sake when I head out to get this one drilled.

The MB on this ball isn't very strong, so I was told to keep it pretty close to the thumbhole for good results.

 If I remember correctly, the diff is only .015, and keeping the MB in the thumb area helps strengthen the balls reaction a bit.

Okay, i thought I recalled reading somewhere about MB locations leading to backwards flaring or something of the like. I'll continue to dig but if thats all it was i'll probably just drop the MB in my thumb and leave it be.

I have two.  Both black locator dots on either side of thumb.  They in all reality roll about the same.  Surface dictates pretty much everything with this ball.  I keep it at 2000ab now to tame out wet/dry.

Good to know Scott, more information the better. I am planning on polishing it before it even gets drilled and using it on some dry conditions, not bone dry but ones where an Onyx Vibe wants to hook too early and too much. Its going to be an experiment and hopefully will work out great.

Actually, Scott, the surface doesn't dictate everything, for me, anyway.

I've found the basic pin position does affect the length quite a bit. I have used 2 basic ones: 1, pin below the ring finger, about a 4" pin to PAP, and, 2, the pin over the ring finger, about a 4.5"-4.75" pin to PAP for me, does get more length. It's not a huge difference but it seems significant to my ball reaction. I've done this with 16 lb balls and with 15 lb. balls.

This doesn't make the ball any snappier, due, I believe, to the small differential.

I've kept the MB locator pin, a tiny, 1/8" diameter, clear pin, either just to the left or just to the right of the thumb hole. That has seemed to work.

I can't remember what Jason and I talked about on this ball....but point was that unlike other cores, if you got the ball to roll over the thumb a little, a stronger core has the chance to pull it away, but with the Blue/Green, it wouldn't.

I do remember him mentioning the backwards flaring, but I don't think it was on this.  That was from a generic conversation.....I believe.

For tweeners/strokers unless on really dryish flat patterns this ball is not going to carry well moving deep. Guys like TwoHands Steve yes at 400 - 450 revs and up I'd believe they'd carry better deeper.  That's my take.

Agreed, but mine is a lsightly larger difference with pin  under, vs over.
I believe it changes the RG enough for it make a difference for me.

I now have both and was toying with the idea of finishing the pin under ball at 2000 or 4000 Abralon, vs the 2000 + polish I have on the pin over ball.

3rd arrow is as deep as I've been able to play this ball, except 8 - 9 years ago, where I used it as a fall back shot at Nationals, playing between 4th and 5th arrow. But those sport shots are a different animal anyway.
